I don't know about you guys, but I love movies, all genres. I thought we had a thread like this before, but cannot find it, so oh well, would rather start a new one anyway. Last movie I watched was The Thin Red Line. I've never watched this movie all the way though, although I love war movies, there's something about this one that bores me. However, I watched it again tonight on On Demand because nothing else was on, and rather enjoyed it this time around. 7 May 07 - just couldn't cope with 'last move you watched' anymore and changed the word 'move' to 'movie'.

The Thin Red Line... I know the title but am not sure I actually saw this film. And then again, I don't really like to watch war films anyway.
Gosh... I watch movies every day, so I have to think about which one was the last one. The last one I watched that was on demand, i.e. a pay movie, was Aeon Flux. Good movie but I had expected more.
The last movie I watched, which I didn't have to pay for was 'Wedding Crashers'. I didn't think much of it when it was advertised, but since it was free to watch, I thought I might as well. It wasn't as bad as I first thought it might be.

^ I watched The Wedding Crashers the other night on HBO, Val. I rather liked it. I think Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson are comedic genius' when put together, as is Ben Stiller. It's hilarious when those 3 are put together.

The Thin Red Line is gut-wrechinglu boring. There's two type of people in this world: those who like Terrick Mallick films, and those that hate them.
The last movie I watched was Cocoon: The Return. Good light-hearted flick.

The Cocoon and Cocoon 2 have been on AMC here for the past few days. Can you believe after all of the many years it's been out, I still have not seen either one? As for Thin Red Line, the parts in between the battles is what bored me. It's not like other war movies where we follow the soldiers and watch them interact, in this, there was nothing but the ramblings of the main character, half assed poetry, no real dialog.

Yup, watched the two on AMC. It quite surprised me, actually. I was expecting a more depressing disaster movie after reading the description about the alien pods, but it wasn't anywhere near that. It's also interesting because you get to see how old people (for lack of a better term) interact with each other, which isn't something that is shown in movies very often.

I really want to see these movies. Can't believe I haven't seen them considering how old they are. I'm gonna try to catch them next time they're on AMC.

Oh, how many times have I done that with HBO. "Oh, I'll watch Kingdom of Heaven next time it's on." Sure enough, it's never on again.
By the way, in the sequal, the actor who played the kid in the first movie comes back as a teenager, and gives the worst acting performance of all time in a serious role. You have to see it. Consider that your proper motivation.

FL, I decided to look up a list of Terrick Mallick films last night, and found he directed 'The New World'. This movie is currently on On Demand PPV, and I've almost bought it a few times, but now am glad I did not. The previews looks like it could be a good movie, but if it's anything like The Thin Red Line, it's not worth the money, better to wait until it comes on HBO or something.
Incidentally, I have never seen any of his other films.

He really hasn't made many films. But yeah, stay away from The New World. Like I said, there is a demographic that LOVES his movies, but it's only those that can appreciate what he's trying to do. To most of us, however, it's incredibly boring.

I think I'm on the same demographic as you. I kind of saw what he was trying to do with The Thin Red Line, but it didn't come across well on screen in my opinion. I was bored. The battle were great, and played well, but the rest of the film just drug on and on.
A good war movie is a movie that keeps on entertained between the battles, and gives the characters some depth and development. I wouldn't even be able to tell the difference in these characters if they all were not recognizable celebrities; Harrelosn, Penn, Note, Stahl, Travolta, Brody, Cusack, Clooney, Reilly, etc.
I've never seen a movie with so many mainstream actors that I was so disappointed in, lol. But yeah, I wouldn't have been able to tell one character from the next if they all weren't famous people. It seems the only ones who had any development was Nick Nolte. Some of the others had some lines like Woody Harrelson and John Cusak, but that's really about it.

Have you heard about Scorsese's upcoming movie, "Th Departed?" Is it possible not to be psyched about it?
