Activity here has slacked off recently, due to external and internal reasons. Case in point; we all love science fiction movies, and TR literally has hundreds of scifi movie threads, yet they sit collecting dust. What would you guys, the members the heart of this forum like to see to make things interesting again? All suggestions are welcomed.

Ooh...err...hmm. Well, I've got a few half-formed suggestions in my mind like an overhaul of the ranking system, staff and members. The others, I'll just have to come back to them later, but that one there might be a nice change, but as I said, half-formed.

Please elaborate on the overhaul of the rankings, staff and members.
While those could be valid points, I'm also interested in hearing ideas to make this such a fun place people can't help but to come back.

TR could have a weekly dabate on some sci-fi topic. By this I mean each week a topic is created and it asks us a question and we can discuss what we think. I suggested this on Kmylove's forum which is about movies and I thought it worked quite well. Debates were about sequels to films, special effects whether there ruining a film etc. So something like that could be done here.

This is a very good idea Tobbles, I'd say it would work out nicely. There are a lot of topics sci-fi related on which we could debate. It would work out quite well. Other than this I'm not sure what else TR would need it kind of has everything a sci-fi forum would need.

Care to give me any examples?

Hm, the main idea Tobbles had was that each week a new thread should be started and stickied containing a debate topic. For example: do aliens exist, have aliens made contact, colonizing outer space (I don't know, just thought of some random examples).
I just thought of something: forum competitions? Do you think they could attract members? I don't know, stuff like trivia, or maybe SOTW...

We used to have caotion contests with small prizes. We also used to have weekely sci fi trivia contests. I just do not have the time to run those things anymore, but anyone is free to do stuff likkkke that if they want.

I think we can start off with the debate things.
Which board should it go in? The Grab Bag gets little attention. Think it would be okay for to post in the neutral zone?

I would suggest the Grab bag, that board needs a bit of activity.

Activity's slacked off? Can't say i noticed.
I agree with Kymlove about the stickied discussions, i have done a "Discussion of the month" {Or any time period} on many mof my boards in the past. Maybe something to get our teeth into like the subject Kymlove mentioned or, if i remember right, aren't you a fan of alternet/parallel/time travel stuff?

I'm a huge fan of it, yes! Think we should go for a weekly thing or a monthly thing?

I say bi-weekly, at least it's a constant period of time. A week's a bit short and a month can vary from 28 to 31 days.

I would go for at least 2 weeks as well.. I think a week is a bit short.. Some members might only log in a few times a month.

I agree, let's try two weeks and see how it goes. I'm a huge fan of it, yes! Think we should go for a weekly thing or a monthly thing? String theory? Some years ago when my sci-forum was around i wrote a huge thread {pity i never saved it} because i had watched a programme consisting of 4 - 5 episodes about it. And i really got into that whole idea at that time.
