If this was the 24th century, and you could attain any position in Starfleet, which position would you accecpt? Captain, Helmsmen, science officer, security, ambassoder, ect? Or would you choose to enter an exchange program, and perhaps serve aboard a Klingon ship, or any other species inside or out of the Federation.
Let us know!

Well, I would want to be a Science Officer - I wish I was one now... a scientist, I mean. All those wonderful new things you discover that could help human- and alien-kind to achieve a better standard of life...

My pick would also be a science officer, Chief science officer. I'd rather spend my days learning, and exploring the universe then I would being responsible for an entire ship and the lives of her crew. And I'd love to have an astrometrics lab, like the one Seven created in Voyager, but would also want shifts on the bridge, to watch the action first hand ~Myke

I would want to learn about the other jobs, so that I would have an all-round knowledge of everything that goes on on the ship. I mean... I don´t know when Doctor Crusher ever trained to be a captain or at least a stand-in captain but she DID once take over as captain. Must have missed that episode where she trained for it. I know Troi tried her hardest to train for a commanding position but Crusher? Can´t remember at all. Anyway, it´s good to have enough knowledge of all the other jobs around as well, just in case you need it. But yes, Science Officer would be my preferred occupation. ;D

I think Dr Crusher trained before we were introduced to her, as I'm pretty sure she started the series off as a Commander. And the chief medical officer has to have a commanding position and knowlede, for he/she has the ability to relieve the captian of duty, if he is medically unfit to command, and take command his/herself if need be. For instance if something happeded to Picard, and Riker, Crusher could have took command of the ship, as she outranked Data, and everyone else, or she could have given command to Data, which is what I'd do.
However, I don't think Voyager's EMH could have took command, but he had the power to revlieve Janeway of duty. If something happened to Janeway and Chakotay, Tuvok would have took command.

LOL "Emergency... there is an emergency... please hurry back to Sick Bay for recharging... " LOL And yes, I know the doctor can release the captain of their duty if he or she thinks the captain isn´t quite his or her jolly old self. LOL But I don´t recall Bones ever stepping in as Captain....

I don't recall Bones ever stepping in as Captain either, although there was a few times where he should have. Jim Kirk was very impressionable ~Myke

actually....although I dont think voyagers dr ever took over officially as captain ever...there was one episode where an alien race THOUGHT he was the captain....and....they also programmed him with tactical training so that he could take over as captain if need be.....so he was equipped to be captain if he was needed.

Nice choice Captain Spider! Tell us, what is it that makes you choose Captain of a starship? ~Myke well, i choose Captian because i want to find out whats out "there". If NASA made the NX-01 tomorrow and asked if i wanted to be Captian of it i'd be over there in a flash!! I don't know why i'd want to be Captian, well i Do know but it's one of those things thats hard to explain.

I would 100% want to be the Captain! Captain McNeil just has a nice ring to it. So dignified and Scottish. Of course, along the way up, I'd probably want to start out as an ensign in Computer Sciences, programming and repairing Starship Computer Cores. Then as the inevitable promotions came, I'd want to move to OPS. Then after that, perhaps to tactical. Of course, First Officer would be next, and then the inevitable promotion to Captain. Can you imagine, being in total control of such a vast, powerful ship? You're literally the top dog! The head cheese! What you say goes! And the thing that would keep me going would be the Admirality. When they contact you for special assignments, and when Starfleet gives you new orders....oh MAN! New challenges and new adventures await a Starfleet captain at every turn! Who wouldn't want to have a job like that?!

(i'm just guessing 'cause i'm still a virgin! but i'd rather be a Starfleet Captian who is a virgin than not a virgin and having a normal job!)

Space is three dimensional, how is it star ships are flat? If were to make a star ship I would make them into complete spheres. These would be able to move in direction. There would be no twisting and turning or any spacial maneouvres. The birdge would be in the core of the sphere.
