Keep the safety's off it would give you an adrenalin rush and make you move yourself.

If you have the safeties on then the bullets go through you? preventing you from getting killed ?

If you have the safeties on then the bullets go through you? preventing you from getting killed ? Yeah but with the safeties on then there is no feel of realism and it wouldn't give you the same experience.

Another use of a holodeck would be to practise speeches in front of holographic representations of people. If the holograms don't like it then the real people wouldn't.

If I had a holodeck I'd create my own interactive holo-novels. Each holo-novel would come with neutral viewing mode and, for the more imaginative, interactive mode where you can influence the storyline, or just let it run its course and be part of events. I'd create my own holo-games too, and maybe a holo-graphic version of Sim City too. ;D

If I owned a holodeck, I may go around to the weight watcher meetings posting bulletins to let those in the group know they can (for a price) visit my holodeck and pig out on all of the food they want while never gaining a single pound. ;D
Thinker, the holonovel is a good idea. I can understand why they don't need TV any longer with holonovels around (granted though, they did away with TV long before the invention of the holodeck). Instead of watching our favorite show or movie, we would enter the show or movie, and be a participant in the plot.
That would simply be amazing!

I would play Doom, Half Life, Hitman, Resident Evil - it would be great to play Super Mario Brothers and Pacman LOL

Making your own story in the holodeck would be a good idea because you can format everything to your desire.

If I had a holodeck im not sure what I would do lol
I would create a program where I was a Captain of my own ship and I had to lead them through a huge war like on DS9 at the end.
