Lost

I have never seen Lost. I've heard it is a real good show, but missed the first few weeks of it, and would like to watch it from the begnining. Is it out on DVD yet? If so I'll try to get it from Netflix sooner or later. Well, I finally got the first season of Lost today. I only have one question, without giving me any spoilers, is this really a sci-fi show at all? I kind of thought it wasn't, but left in this board because it's such a popular show. I ask because I've only seen the first episode of season one so far, and cannot figure out what in the hell is on that island shaking the trees, and ate that pilot, as I thought of this show was going to be drama with maybe a little action. So then it got me thinking of the original poster of this thread calling it a "sci-fi soap opera", if it's science fiction, even in the least, I can stop struggling my brain to come up with a realistic answer to what in the hell is on the island with them. Regardless of what genre this show is, I loved the first episode, and am anxiously getting offline to go watch the second episode.

Well... so far... I don't think that has really be explained. Like, they've told us what it is and sort of how it works... But I'm not sure if it's really something scientific or not..
I think LOST is one of those shows that can be either or... But really, the show focuses around the characters and their relationships to each other.. and how they encounter certain things.
I hope you enjoy it.

Update on my Lost viewing: None. The DVD's I borrowed would not play anything other then the first episode, so I've ordered season one from Netflix. The only problem with that is season one is on 7 discs, and I only get one disc at a time as I only have the two at a time deal and everytime I order something I let my kid order something, so watching Lost will only be a few episodes every other day.

Well, as long as you get to it. There's only 4 episodes left this season, so you'll have all summer to catch up.

I'm up to episode 5, I think. I feel asleep watching the last episode on disc two, I for it's name. Basically so far I've learned who the prisoner was, the female who seems to be Jack's sidekick, I've learned that the old bald man who found the kid's dog is more then he seems. He seems to contain wisdom beyond that of any conventional person, almost as if he was a shaman or something. Very interesting. I think the Korean was in some Korean mafia, but also think he is a jerk and will get what's coming to him sooner or later. I really like the fat guy with the awful hair. His personality is one that I'd get along with well in real life, he is the true cool in my opinion. They've moved to the cave near the fresh water, well at least some of them. I don't know if that's a mistake or not since they are in the jungle with whatever those mysterious creatures are, but those creatures hasn't appeared in a while so I'm not sure what the deal with that is. And what in the hell was a polar bear doing on the island? lol. Strange but cool. I'm beginning to think the island is more then just an island. The Shaman guy told the rock star that the island will give him his guitar if he gives something to the island; as if the island was a live. I do have to admit, sometimes Lost is very slow, but overall I like it and will continue to keep getting DVD's from Netflix. I still have disc 3 to watch which I plan to tonight.

LOST is so awesome... Haha.. yes, the polar bear... And yes, it's more than it seems. Jack's sidekick: Kate. She's all right. The old guy: John Locke. Yes, he's kind of... an renaissance man, you might say. Hurley is cool.. he's one of my favorite characters. (The fat guy with weird hair). Jin (the Korean)... Your take on him is interesting to me... I wont' say anything more though, haha..

Yeah Hurley is awesome, I'd so get along with him in real life. I imagine he was picked on a lot as a kid which is a shame as his personality is so cool. For the Korean, lol, I must be on to something, but I am convinced he's a low lever mafia thug who's going to get what he deserves. John Locke intrigues me. He is so familiar, I may have seen him somewhere else but cannot place who he is, but his character is so mysterious, I'm convinced he knows more than anyone else, and think he may even have some type of 6th sense or supernatural power.

Well, here's Terry O'Quinn's listing.... maybe you can find something that's familiar? www.imdb.com/name/nm0642368/And, hey, we're all allowed our own ideas. It's just that I have more knowledge about Jin's background, lol...

I'll see it eventually, at the rate I'm going I should be caught up in a month or so. I finished disc three today, will send them back tomorrow and will get my next DVDs on Monday. I don't know how much of the small things I notice will make a difference in the long run, but I've noticed a lot of small things. One thing that struck me odd was the strange tides that are making the beaches receed, as if the island is shrinking. I don't know why I find that strange when you consider the fact this island has man eating monsters, polar bears, and malicious inhabitants who didn't arrive in the plane crash, lol. I purposely have avoided all spoilers so when they found Charlie hanging from the tree, I really thought he was dead for good, as was kind of sad as I like his character . The last I left off; Claire is still missing from being kidnapped by Ethan, Said has returned from meeting that French woman, Locke and the lifeguard guy have discovered some type of metal flooring in the jungle, and continue to visit each night, etc. I'm not sure what to expect next as each episode surprises me so far. I'm happy I never saw Lost until now as I love sitting down and watching an entire series in a mater of days or weeks.

I cannot think of his name, but he's the brother of the blonde haired woman whose always laying on th beach in her bikini, the woman who can translate the French distress call.
