Greetings all. I've been at work for the past couple of days a lot more than usual. We're having a big convention in town next week and we're doing a lot of much needed maintenance and generally just making the restaurant look awesome.
Thanks Myke for getting the answers going and the scores posted. Regarding that bizarre post that was logged under me, I think I have an explanation. It involves my cousin who was staying with me for a couple days from out of town. He asked if he could use the computer to check his e-mail, etc., and since I have the "always logged in" button selected, I'm thinking he decided to have a bit of fun with me. I was actually pretty ticked off when I saw it, so I modified it to be a normal post. I still haven't called him to ask him about it. He's back home now. We've had this back and forth joke thing going on for years. He's gonna pay big time for this one...heh heh heh.
All of the trivia answers were correct except number 10. I was referring to the "Principle of Parrallel Planetary Development." Other than that, everything was right on the money. Thanks to all who participated!

This edition of this weeks contest will be open untill late tonight, aprox 13 hours from now. Answers 1. 1966 2. Cheyenne Mountain 3. They were overtaken by a space virus that killed them and turned them into machines (think borg, but meaner and nastier) 4. Einstein 5. L.E (Life Extention) 6. He was double crossed by his employer who hired him to sabotage the Jupiter 2, and was knocked out by the shock that was meant to kill him, thus awaking once the Jupiter 2 was already out in deep space. 7. Smoking a cigar. I also accecpted 'celebrating the 4th of July', as technicly he did at the end of the movie, so both answers were right. 8. He worked for Lasa. I'm not sure why they couldnt use Nasa, but the patch on his Earth suit in the early episodes read Lasa. 9. The Millinium Gate 10. He worked for a software company, as a programmer. Bonus: Because he stoke the Enterprise and proceeded to go back to the Genisis planet in search of Spock. Valderra - 20 ConqueringWolf - 14 Congradulations to Valderra who is todays winner, and in the lead for the week! And shame on those of you who did not enter. Thanks for playing, and Tuesday's edition of this weeks contest will be up soon! Note: If you guys have any subjects on what you'd like future trivias to be based on, let me know here and I'll attempt them in the near future. Of course it has to be something every player is at least somewhat familiar with ~Myke

TRIVIA CONTEST FOR APRIL 20, 2004
This week will be random trivia from all walks of Sci-Fi.
1. In the theatrical version of Dune (Not the Sci-Fi Channel version), what was the huge mistake with the end of the movie, compared with the end of the book? (3 pts)
2. In the Animatrix Short, "Final Flight of the Osiris", who was the captain of the Osiris? (3 pts)
3. In the Fifth Element, where were the 4 elemental stones hidden? (4 pts)
4. Here's a blast from the past. In the film Freejack, Anthony Hopkins brings Emilio Estevez into the future in an attempt to do what? (5 pts)
5. In ST: Generations, how were L'Ursa and Be'Tor able to get their weapons to penetrate the shields of the Enterprise-D? (2 pts)
6. In Spider-Man, who can be seen rescuing a little girl from certain doom during the Green Goblin's attack on the World Day Celebration? (3 pts)
7. In the film, Blade Runner, what type of people was Harrison Ford hunting? (3 pts)
8. In Dune, what were the names of the two Great Houses fighting for control of Arrakian Spice Production? (3 pts)
9. Not a trick question, but just a little tricky on the exact name of the city...In what city did the film AKIRA take place in? (3 pts)
10. In the first Highlander film, who was the antagonist? (4 pts)
Bonus: This bonus was something I've been thinking about for a few days now and I think I've got the answer, plus or minus a few days. I will accept an answer that is relatively in the same ballpark as mine. Here goes: How long was Marty McFly out of time? In other words, how long was he away from his normal place in time of October 26, 1985?
Here's my thinking on this. The human body does not stop aging when you go gallavanting through time. So in order to keep up with how old he really was, once Marty got back to 1985 for good, he would've had to adjust his birthday on the calendar in order to keep track of his actual age. Sure, his birthday wouldn't change, but HE continued to age while he was out of his proper time. So, how long was he away, or how much would he have to adjust the calendar to keep track of his real age? Same answer. I think this one will be worth (15 points).
GOOD LUCK TO ALL!! Answers will be posted between 11PM and Midnight Central Standard Time.

Sci-Fi Trivia Answers: April 20, 2004 1. Paul Mau'Dib made it rain in the movie. This never happened in the original novel. It was a good theatrical device to use, but being a Dune Purist, I dislike it. 2. Thaddeus 3. The Four Elemental Stones were hidden inside the body of Diva FlavaLaguna (I hope I spelled that right! LOL!) 4. Anthony Hopkins hopes to transfer his "soul, mind, consciousness, etc.," into Emilio Estevez's body in order to attract Emilio's former wife, Rene Russo. Check this movie out if you've never seen it. Mick Jagger is awesome in it! 5. They used Geordi's VISOR to find out the shield frequency of the Enterprise-D, and adjusted their disruptors to match the frequency, thereby rendering their shields useless. 6. Stan Lee. Creator of such greats as Spider-Man, The Incredible Hulk, The X-Men, The Fantastic Four, The Avengers, the list goes on and on. Stan Lee is one of the most famous men in the comic book medium next to Jack Kirby. Stan wrote the comics, and Jack drew them. The team of Lee-Kirby is considered by most to be the most influential in comic history. 7. Replicants. One of my all time favorite Sci-Fi films. BTW. 8. Atreides and Harkonnen. 9. NEO-Tokyo. The NEO part was what I hoped no one would forget or misunderstand. 10. The Kurgan!!!! What an evil bastard!!!! I hated that guy! LOL! Bonus: Alright. Answer first, then explanation. 3 weeks. Marty spent Nov. 5 - Nov. 12 in 1955. that's 1 week. Then he went to 2015 for about a day, then to an alternate 1985 for roughly a day. After than, he went to 1955 again to stop Biff from obtaining the sports almanac. He was there for 2-3 days while waiting for 1955 Doc to uncover the DeLorean. Then he went to 1885 and spent a week or so there. Roughly speaking, my estimates guage him at being around 3 weeks "out of time." I would've accepted anything from 2 to 3 weeks. Amazing that time travel makes you adjust your birthday once you get back to your normal time, eh? Here are the totals for this quiz: ConqeringWolf: 27 Valderra: 24 Totals for the week: Wolf: 41 Val: 44 Looks like Val has a very slim lead! Can you knock her off tomorrow Wolf? As usual, SHAME ON THOSE WHO DIDN'T PARTICIPATE!! Myke will have the new trivia questions up soon, I'm sure! TAKE CARE ALL!!
