Welll... Im not entirely sure what an ablum is but I can tell you what my favourite albums are if you want These arent in any order by the way, theyr just as Iv thought of them....
1. McFly - Room on the 3rd Floor 2. Robbie Williams - Swing when you winning 3. Keane - Hopes and Fears 4. Maroon 5 - Songs about Jane 5. Coldplay - Rush of Blood to the Head 6. The Thrills - So Much for the City 7. The Killers - Hot Fuss 8. Eminem - The Eminem Show 9. Michael Jackson - Number Ones 10. Green Day - American Idiot
Sadly though, I dont actually own all these albums... I very rarely go out and buy music... I just think its so expensive... I rather object... not that its going to make any difference lol, but still, it annoys me lol. They take some stupid amount like 20p to make and then I have to pay £15 - £20 for most of them. Really really annoys me lol.

It's all I listen to. The only thing lyrics are good for are if they have meaning, and very few do these days so I just do without them.

Lol fair enough. I have to say personally once I know a song I dont really listen to the lyrics themeslves, I listen to the music around them. I sing along but I dont listen to what Im singing. Quite often a year later I will listen more than usual and suddenly realise that the song I like is in fact incredibly dirty... happened to me many a time simply because I pay very little attention to the words themselves. Its the music I like.

But I just don't feel like the voice is a good instrument, which would also be a purpose for lyrics (Enya is the exception). And people give me strange looks when I tell them what I listen to (and i never hesitate to tell them when they ask), but I don't care.

Well thats certainly fair enough I guess, though personally I disagree. When used well the voice is a brilliant instrument. But the thing I really like about voice in songs is that that is often what makes it individual (not always of course, theres some awful artists out there of course) since no two voices are exactly the same. Of course, instruments played well dont always sound the same but in a different way, its more the style in which they are played than the timbre of the sound itself.

I could listen to a score for the first time and I would have a general idea of who made the music, because everybody has their own style (granted, there are many that just copy John Williams or Hans Zimmer, but that's true in all genres). But when I look at other genres, I hear a lot of people who have good singing voices, and think that's enough, and thus they sound like every other person with a good singing voice. And then there's the awful hard rock bacds where you can't understand anythign they're saying.

Don't think I should go bashing Metallica at the moment. ;D Why not? They suck now. They have not put anything out that was great since 1991 with Black. S&M was great, but all they did was redo some songs with a symphony on that, so it wouldn't count as a new album.

Oh yes, granted, as I said there are some people who all sound the same, but not all, and its the decent musicians I listen to anyway
And I would agree, there are some composers, like Hans Zimmer and John Williams who you can just recognise instantly. There are a couple of others I normally recognise the style of but I dont know their names.

Incidentally the bottom 10 for me are as follows
11. Soundtrack- Star Trek II 12. Soundtrack- Star Wars 13. Soundtrack- Air Force One 14. Drowning Pool- Desensitized 15. Nickelback- Curb 16. Mudvayne- LD 50 17. Godsmake- Awake 18. Linkin Park- Hybrid Theory 19. Sountrack- Star Wars Empire Strikes Back 20. Linkin Park- Meteora
I have so many CD's and MP3's that my top 20 rarely changes, I will listen to those CD's as often as possible, and alot of times I actually prefer soundtracks, because hearing the music, I visualize the scene that music is from.
