Grr...I've been looking forward to seeing The Departed two months before it got released, and I still haven't seen it! Haven't seen anything since Casino Royale, actually. The Departed is honestly one of the absolute best movies I have ever seen. I think Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Martin Scorsese, Mark Walburg, etc. all deserve Oscars, it was simply AWESOME!! I still haven't seen Casino Royale, but am anxious to. I'm buying that movie tonight, Kmylove. awesome, you'll love it ;D I've also seen a lot of movies since I last posted here...but these are the only ones worth remembering: Harry Potter 2 Paycheck Chocolat You've got Mail I haven't gotten around to it yet, but did watch 2 movies this evening. I watched Domino with Keira Knightly, and The Break Up with Vince Vaughn and Jennifer Aniston. Domino was okay, I love Mickey Rourke, but the film seemed to be trying to be like a Quinten Tarantino film too much, like they were copying his style. The Break Up was good, I think Vince Vaughn is hilarious. Now I'm likely to just turn on one of the HBO channels and fall asleep as it's 2am, but plan to watch Lucky Number Slevin tomorrow evening sometime.

The last film I watched was Speed. Awesome film. The best part has to be when the bus jumps the gap in the road. There are so many problems that they must overcome which must be exhausting. Another funny part was when he was trying to diffuse the bomb under the bus and to stay on he had to puncture the gas tank was his screw driver. "Were leaking gas." "What! You wanted to give yourself another challenge." (Or something similar.) Good film!

The sequel is one of the worst films of all time.
I just got back from seeing the Spanish film Pan's Labyrinth. Shocking film. I'll post a full review tomorrow.

I really love it, mostly since it combines action with a pinch of comedy. Keanu Reeves does one of his best roles in that movie (I dare say better than Neo). I like the way they've managed to create a tense situation to which you can easily relate, you really get to care about those people there. I also loved the dramatic bits, like when Jack finds out that his partner got killed or when he decided to stay in the train with Annie after he realized he couldn't free her. I could watch this movie over and over again. The last movie I saw was The Death and Life of Bobby Z. It starred Paul Walker and Laurence Fishburne. Not too much of a brilliant movie but it was the only thing that aired last night

I went ahead and finished the review up anyways:
I just got back from watching the Spanish film Pan's Labyrinth, and it is safe to say that it was one of the most shocking movies I've ever seen. I'm not thinking straight right now, but I can only remember Passion of the Christ and Munich as movies that left me in more of a state of awe than this film. Simply put, they just don't make 'em like that in America.
Pan's Labyrinth is a hybrid film, meaning it combines two pretty different story lines into one. The first part of the film that we see is a fortress for Franco's fascist regime in 1940's Spain. They are trying to stop resisters who are using guerrilla warfare in a nearby jungle. Leading this force is Captain Vidal (Sergi Lopez), who has recently married Carmen (Ariadna Gil), a pregnant mother of one. She brings her daughter Ofelia (Ivana Baquero) with her to stay with the Captain, causing her health great harm during the travels. From the moment they meet, the Captain and Ofelia instantly grow to hate each other.
However, Ofelia is able to find escape from this terrible new world when she is met by a fairy, who leads her into a nearby labyrinth. There she encounters a faun named Pan (Doug Jones) who tells her that she is a lost princess who is finally returning, after many centuries of being away, to reclaim her throne. But in order to do so, she must first complete three tasks before the next full moon. Now Ofelia is torn between living a fantasy she has always dreamed of, and taking care of her mother and those she cares about from her evil stepfather.
First, I have to get something out of the way: this is a Spanish film. Director Guillermo del Toro (Hellboy, Blade II), being the master that he is, has made the entire film in Spanish. So if you can't stand reading subtitles, this won't be towards your liking. But if you're tired of the same nonsense that is continuously thrown out there by Hollywood, then this will be quite a refreshing experience for you. From start to finish, this is a shocking film, breaking all the traditions established by American film, providing a very real commentary on the dictatorship of that time.
The way del Toro is able to combine Ofelia’s world with the “real” world, a world filled with war, murder, and selfishness, is nothing short of cinematic genius. The parallels between the monsters Ofelia is fighting and the fascists will make anybody think. For instance, when she asks a giant toad if he is happy getting fat off bugs while the tree he lives in dies, the same could be asked of Vidal as he allows everybody around him to die. Likewise, Ofelia’s journeys reflect the emotions running through her mind as her mother continues to lose her health.
Indeed, if it wasn’t for the breathtaking imagery in Pan’s Labyrinth, these films might be seen as one. However, the production design of the fantasy part of the story is greater than even the highest-budget films made in Hollywood. The sets look absolutely amazing, and the various creatures Ofelia encounters come to life in a very realistic way. Special mention should also be made of the make-up, especially a scene where a man stitches himself right on camera. I still can’t figure out how they did that.
However, the element of the movie that drives the story along is the music. Composer Javier Navarrete was brought in early in the production to compose a lullaby that Ofelia’s caretaker was to sing to her. This lullaby was turned into the main part of the score, and its presence adds a touch of suspense, darkness, and innocence in a simply bone-chilling fashion. It really is musical storytelling at its best, and gives Pan’s Labyrinth an extra bit of personality that makes this film a true classic.
Another one of the great benefits of watching a foreign film besides seeing a completely new way to make a film is being introduced to the great, undiscovered actors, and there are plenty in this film. Without a doubt, the standout performance comes from 12-year-old Ivana Baquero. Like everything else about this film, this isn’t the conventional character we’re used to in America. This girl doesn’t cry or scream at everything that’s not normal, because she’s already imagined everything. Baquero performs this level of toughness flawlessly, while still showing the childhood innocence needed for most of these scenes to work. Another superb performance came from Maribel Verdu, who played a cook at the fort who takes care of Ofelia. This character has a lot going on, and she handles it perfectly. Sergi Lopez play a somewhat-stereotypical, but still impressive villain, and I wouldn’t be surprised if we see him coming to Hollywood sometime soon. He’ll probably be the one that remains in your head after watching the movie.
Pan’s Labyrinth is the best film I’ve seen all year. However, it’s not for everybody. The violence will probably be too much for those with a weak stomach, and the ending is definitely something you wouldn’t expect. I have a feeling a good majority will not like it, as it doesn’t follow the rules set by Hollywood tradition. That being said, anybody looking for a cinematic masterpiece need not look for an American solution. There’s a whole other world of movies out there, and this one is only the tiniest scratch on the surface. But what an impact it makes.
10/10

I've seen a lot of movies lately. Rocky Balboa - Excellent movie, I dare say one of the best in the rocky series. This was more of a character study of Rocky Balboa then it was a boxing movie, much like the first Rocky. This movie was also very emotional, and ended the franchise perfectly. I've always been a Rocky fan, and was looking forward to this movie for a long time. It did not disappoint. Children of Men - Sci fi movie, one I didn't even know about until I saw it. The story is set 30 years in the future, and all women on Earth are sterile, thus the end of mankind is inevitable. As the story follows out, a woman becomes pregnant, and must get out of Britain to a society that exists only on a ship in the ocean. The reason for this is panic has taken over the world, most major countries have been wiped out by war, China, The US, Russia, etc. The UK is the last government left, and they have become a corrupt government. The movie has some unique and original scenes of war, and other action sequences, but it does not over do it, but at the same time they are some memorable scenes; great cinematography. I really thought this was a good movie, and puts a new spin in sci fi films. Completely original. The Pursuit of Happyness - Will Smith is a great actor, and he really shines in this role. The movie was good, but it really depressed me. During most of the film, Will Smith and his 5 year old son are forced to live on the streets and face other financial problems. That really depressed me, but the movie was still very good. The Good Shepherd - Matt Damon is long over due for an Oscar for best actor. He was excellent in this film. This film is about the start of the CIA, the start of America's dirty little secrets. It's extremely long, and kind of slow, but was pretty good. Robert Deniro directed and Joe Pesci has a cameo, his first time on screen since 1998. Saw III - Disturbing to saw the least, but what are we to expect from a Saw movie? Yeah, very disturbing, but this was a good movie, I liked this one more then Saw II. The Wicker Man - having never seen the original, the ending of this movie took me for a major surprise. The movie was okay, it kept me guessing and kept me interested, but after it went off I couldn't help but notice a lot of plot holes. The Illusionist - Edward Norton, as usual, does an excellent job in this movie. This movie is more like an independent film then a mainstream Hollywood movie, and that's what made it so good. The plot was fantastic, excellent actors, and a trick ending that I did not see coming. Great movie! Hmm, I'm sure there's more, but I can't think of them at the moment.

The last movie I watched was The Goonies! Great film!
If you haven't seen it basically they find a treasure map in their attic and search for gold so their town doesn't get turned into a golf course. I think The Goonies is what they call their gang.
The funny part must be when they have caught that kid and they make him tell them everything he knows. So he starts going on about 3rd and 4th grade and blaming his dog for stuff lol and starts crying over it.
Its a bit cheesy with the gadget kid. He has loads of gadgets such as plastic teeth that fly out and hang onto walls.
I thought it was a bit pointless having a guy who had been injured when he was born locked in a basement then helping the kids out later. Would of been better if they missed his character out.
Good film!!! A must see!!!

The last movie I saw was Enough. It stars Jennifer Lopez as a woman whose husband gets violent. She runs away from home and keeps hiding from him, but as he is decided to find her and kill her, she decides she has to face him and in the end she ends up beating him up and killing him . Quite lame... but there was nothing else on

The last movie I watched was Poltergeist. Great film and it proves you don't need all these high-tech modern effects for it to be a good film.
That small women is cool with her very high voice. "This house is clean." Then the house goes crazy again and dead bodies start coming from out of the ground.
Great ending too. Where they just go to a motel then he wheels the T.V out of the room.

The last movie I watched was Blade II. This is the first time I have actually seen all the film. Normally I watch an hour or so. Awesome film! Blade has some cool moves. A bit unexpected that his younger partner turns out to be a Vampire slave. But hey he gets what he deserves. ;D Blade must of been happy at the end. Those mutant vampires are dead and the embryos were destroyed. The elite group of vampires were killed that were trained to kill him. A few other vampires died and he learned information about their safe houses. Good ending when that vampire goes outside to burn before the sun. Also he caught up with that vampire in the end.
