There seem to be several different ways that people play RPGs around here. In the Star Trek RPGs I'm apart of, we make up our own character and take it from there. The Captain will have a rough idea of the story and we just go with the flow, adding bits to it when we feel like it. Whilst members can add to the storyline and thicken the plot, since only the Captain knows the full story, someone still has to ensure that things following the story - normally the Captain does that.

I've taken a glance on a HP board and saw they do it the same way you posted. I'm more with the style where there is no pre-set plot, or a very summary idea where we want it to go. Everyone adds to the story to make it go with the flow. If you guys want to and it's allowed I could post some captures of a story. Or maybe each story master (I don't remember how Myke called them in page one of the thread) could do things their own way.

Yeh I quite enjoy it when people add twists and turns to the story, makes it more interesting. I quite fancy trying another way of RPGing, but it would have to be based on something I'm familiar with or I'll loose interest. I don't have any objections to you posting some captures of a story.

Well how about we have a board for Sci-fi roleplays and the sub boards will be for different Sci-fi stuff. Also Fantasy can be included and lets have a miscellous board for rps that don't fit anywhere else

But is there enough interest to run several different RPG's all at the same time?

I think it should start with the basic sci-fi stuff. A good structure to begin with would be:
Temporal RPG (supposed name of the board)
1 Star Wars (sub board) 1.1 Rules (sticky thread for all the sub boards) 1.2Character Claim (a sticky thread where the first post will be constantly updated as the members will claim their character for this sub-board) 1.3 Character Sheets (a sticky where the character sheets for this sub-board will be posted; the first post will have the template sheet that the others need to copy and fill) 1.4thread 1 1.5 thread 2 etc 2 Star Trek (sub board) - same structure as above 3 The Matrix (sub board) - same structure as above 4 Doctor Who (sub board -> just a guess, I noticed it's quite popular) - same structure as above 5 Misc (sub board -> all rpg's that don't fit above: HP, LOTR, anything else. If in time they get a big number or stories they can get a sub board) - same structure as above, just a bit more complicated to keep trace of as it will have more movies or shows or books.
This is only how I think it could look. We would need to think and decide what sub boards do we want for the beginning, to make sure they will get posts and members willing to play. What do you think guys?

Ok, I would just have the Temporal RPG board in the Realm of Sci-fi caterogy and then the sub boards listed. At the bottom where there are the posts, there will be the rules. The sub boards should be: - Star Wars RPGs
- Star Trek RPGs
- Doctor Who RPGs
- Matrix RPGs
- Other Sci-fi RPGs
- Harry Potter RPGs
- Lord Of The Rings RPGs
- other fantasy RPGs
- Miscellous RPGs
And all of those boards should have stickies with character creations. Also we should have like a new form of Moderator group called "The Lords of The RolePlays" to keep the place under control and stuff like that ;D

yap, that structure is good to, we only need Myke to decide what he'll keep when the board is ready to be up. Funny name for the new member group Very LOTR style though

I would suggest one or two RPG's least then they would guarantee to be active.

I like the idea, would each sub-board then have their own game master who would look after that sub-board?

Tobbles, I'll maybe keep all of them active Eliteborg, that's a very cool idea you will get a character into every board? it takes at least two characters to keep a board active, that's for sure. (and btw, I in case anyone wonders, I'll be Neo ) eliteborg: that's how Myke said it would be from the first place

Thats a lot of RPG's and I would doubt if all those would be active. I would suggest one or two RPG's least then they would guarantee to be active. I tend to agree with this for the same reason on ProBoards Support I advise new forum-makers not to start off with too many boards at first. I like the idea, would each sub-board then have their own game master who would look after that sub-board? I'm thinking that's the way it's going to go, with game masters granted cetrtain mod permissions in their sub-boards, like sticky, etc. to organize. What about Harry Potter?
