I notice that there is a thread for Stargate the TV series, but not for the original movie. lol I've loved this movie ever since it came out. What do you guys think of it?

I remember liking it alot, but the funny thing is, I've seen it only once, and can barley remember it. I've been meaning to watch it again, but I don't own it, and missed it on TV a few weeks ago.
Wasnt there a Stargate II as well?

For some reason it seems to me like there was, like it was a straight to video movie, perhaps I'm just slowly slipping out of reality, who knows, I'll have to look it up and see which it is

Yep, it's confirmed, I'm slipping out of reality. I found this too. allstargate.television-series.com/sg1/movies/I remember when the previews for SG1 first came on, perhaps I was half asleep when I first saw the previews and my subconcious mind thought it was a sequel to the movie, lol who knows.

Nope, there never was a Stargate II. And just as well when you see some sequels that ruin the first film by producing a second one. Anyway, I have the video and LOVE the film. Sometimes I can´t decide, which I like better: The film or the series. I have to say that I prefer James Spader as Daniel Jackson to Michael Shanks who can´t seem to make up his mind whether he wants to be in the series or not. And then, after a failed attempt to go into movies, leaving the SG1 group stranded without him and having to bring in someone else to replace him, AND after accepting that other person, here comes Michael Shanks back to take over again... Don´t like him... nope. So anyway, I really liked the film. ;D www.stargate-sg1-solutions.com/episoderedux/movie/moviescript.shtml

I too loved the film. Not really into SG-1 at all but I loved this movie. A very original concept and an underrated sci-fi film.

Lol. That part rocks. I don't like the TV show at all. I've only seen it like twice and I never cared to watch it again.

I have the special edition and regular edition of Stargate and I say the special edition is way better than the original theatrical release. Basically they put the 15-20 minutes of edited footage back into the movie and parts that didn't make sense in the theatrical version actually made sense in the special edition.
The movie itself was good.
The one thing I missed was the pilot to SG-1, did they even acknowledge Daniel staying behind in the movie at all when the series launched?

I never saw the pilot to SG-1 either, but I'd imagine they did to tie in the plots, just as some SG-1 characters will be in the Stagate Atlantis pilot (which i'm anxiously waiting on)

The one thing I missed was the pilot to SG-1, did they even acknowledge Daniel staying behind in the movie at all when the series launched? Sure they did. The pilot showed a few guys watching the gate and suddenly Raa (or whoever) and his team came through the gate and took one of the guards - a girl - back with him through the gate. Because the team thinks there is only one place where they could have come from, they are about to send another bomb through to Abydos to destroy the gate and everyone on the planet, if possible. Jack O´Neill is recalled from retirement and has to admit that Daniel Jackson was not dead (because everyone had assumed the first bomb had gone off on that planet) but that he is alive on the planet. And so on and so forth...
