Thing is all they have to do is put off the repairs until the next pod arrives in July or August and then have the equipment needed sent up. If they need to send more than one pod then do it, otherwise why risk it.
I guareentee if an astronaut dies in orbit, there will be heads rolling on Earth

welll...i guess they dont want to risk another gyro going out....if another one goes out they wont be able to maintain their proper orbit....and that's a big problem....what the hell....surely they have checked out the other shuttles by now and found out whether they are safe or not to fly....just send up a freaking shuttle already.

They can't Wolf. Everytime they think the shuttles are safe, they find something else wrong.
The way I see it, don't send replacements up on the first trip up, just send one guy with a shitload of supplies that they need, and keep the tourists from going up till its done.
