From Space.com City-Sized Asteroid to Pass Earth This Fall A minor rumor has hatched on the Internet that a large and deadly asteroid will strike Earth this fall. Bulletin board discussions cite a 63 percent chance of impact, while concerned readers have e-mailed SPACE.com wondering if it is true.
Astronomers know of no such impending doom.
The rumors are likely rooted in a real event, however. On Sept. 29, 2004 an asteroid the size of a small city will make the closest known pass of such a very large space rock anytime this century"Complete ArticleThis is a very interesting artitcle, it goes on to explian how mysterious this asteroid is, how it's "wierd" shape and movment, as well as it's "crazy" rotation make it unlike any other asteroid previously known. It's a very interesting read, it also explains that it will pass us by a distance of 4 times that of the distance between Earth and the moon, and how others have passed us within the moons orbit, which is really scary. I wonder how we keep getting lucky so many times. Our moons gravity must derail them, just as Jupiter's gravity attracks them. Who knows though, those 'bulliten boards' may be right, ad this is the official statement to fool us

Oh well... maybe Armageddon will be upon us after all. A little later than some people have predicted (2000) but then... better late than never, right.

I would just go into my bomb shelter in my backyard that would have 5 years worth of food stored in it, with all my DVD's and VHS tapes, and I might take the kids as well, but I have not decided that one yet

I have been dreaming of having one. Not sure why but I guess it´s always better to be prepared. Can I come and join you? ;D LOL Well, I would take all my books and be as happy as can be. Oh... and do you have a generator in there? Cause THEN I would take my laptop too and play all my games I just don´t find the time to play properly.

I found it putting in the inground swimming pool a year ago.
It was buried and had never been kept up, so I searched the net for compnaies that offered shelters(there are a few) and found one near by(about 6 hours away) and asked them if they could come up and check it out for me. A week later they toured it and told me that it needed very little repairing, it was still in great shape, except for the water tanks and generators and there was a crack in one of the walls that just started not to long ago. They estimated about $11,000 to fix and to get it functional again, which I did and then while that was going on, I decided to get another generator for it and to re-do the wiring, and update the lighting and put in better lighting for it. The most expensive thing was the air purification part, that cost me $8,890 to do, and I also had them put a waterproof blanket around the walls to keep the water out(it didnt need it), and as of 3 weeks ago, my bombshelter is fully functional.
All I need to do now is to stock it with food and fill the water tanks(which can be refilled with a garden hose).
I reburied it(like it is supposed to be) and left the front entry door exposed to the yard(there are stairs that go down 6 feet to the door) and the entry in my basement is concealed behind a false wall.
