science fiction stuff I like: 1-Artificial gravity 2-Anti-gravity 3-Shrinking ray guns 4-Time travel 5-Parallel universes 6-Alternate realities 7-Teleportation 8-Telepathy 9-Telekinesis
The only reason I visit TR is because I like to read posts of the fantastic and the unnbelievable.

theories are just that theories and they only hold true ontil someone disproves them

Some of the matter in a black hole will get emitted as mangled particles and radiation, but the rest of the matter will emerge from a white hole. A white hole is essentially the opposite of a black hole. The only thing that connects the two is a stabilized wormhole. Wormholes do exist, but as we know them, are on the quantum level, and exist for a fraction of a second. They appear, and instantly become unstable, and collapse on themselves. The gravity at the singularity of a black hole is so immens that it basically stabilizes it.This happens at the center of a black hole. Since gravity still pulls on the matter, it enters the wormhole. At the other end of the wormhole, the matter and energy are expelled at very high speeds. Once the black hole loses most of its mass, the wormhole collapses, and the white hole dissapates.

thats one of the coolest things in science fiction - soon it might really become true and proven science.

OK...Hawking is a great mind and amazing and everything else....BUT....how does he know that matter doesn't spew out into a parallel universe like he used to think? what new information have they received to tell him he was wrong before.....I haven't seen any new breakthrough scientific data or anything on blackholes that he is basing this off of. It is nice to have theories and everything...but if he wants to state this as fact i want to know how he came about it. Don;t you kind of find this starnge that he can just up and change his theories and doesn;t need any kind of proof? lol I was always rather disappointed by his parallel universe theory. I watched a program about it a few weeks ago and it seemed like he was making a big thing about something that had very little science behind it and ultimately would be unprovable. So I am pleased with this more rational description.

It is what is know as a singularity (an object that is just a point, one dimensional, infinitely small). It is an unimaginably dense singularity. I cant remember the statistics fo weight and stuff but I know for the next most dense object, a neutron star (the result of a star that is a super nova but is not big enough to form a black hole) just a teaspoon weight something like a million tonnes, or maybe even a billion. Its one of those things that is just impossible to get your head around. More dense than something that a teaspoon of weighs a million tonnes. Hurts my brain just to think about it lol. i agree here, i read an aricle some time ago that said that the mass of one square inch inside of a black hole is equal to approximately the entire mass of Mt. Everest. this is an absolustely immense amount of "matter" we're talking about here, i love black hole theories. . . thanks for actually having a forum where i can talk to people who at least have some grasp of the enormity of the universe and whatnot. i have been searching for such a group for months now, to no avail. At least here people (i should hope) care about what my opinion is. . . cool guys.
