with new technology's it is estimated that within 50 years humans will be able to live for up to 5000 years. they estimate this as they have already managed to regrow organs inside people... a young girl with a terminal liver disease had a new one GROWN inside her with surgery only need to take the old one out.... so with this in mind it is altogether quite possible that we will see this and similar planets in the future.

The very moment someone finds a cure for our mortality, I'll be first in line to ban it. Humans are not supposed to live beyond 125 in my opinion, and immortality would cause a whole lot more problems than it solves. Put simply, we are meant to die, if you like it or not. I mean, we can't go around without expiring sooner or later, think of things like overpopulation and whatnot.

of course not everybody would be able to afford it lol. but think about regrowing a limb... that wouldn't lengthen our lives... just improve that persons... in the end it is only our brains death that limits us.... and in a hundred years maybe we will have the technology to get to this planet so over population wouldn't be a problem...

Maybe in a hundred years, maybe. No one can accurately predict the future, but technology is moving on fast that's for sure.

with new technology's it is estimated that within 50 years humans will be able to live for up to 5000 years. If this is true, then a lot of humans will be in trouble. We are already overpopulated, and at the moment we only live for a very short time. Can you imagine what it would be like if even just 1% of the population can live for 5000 years, and breed almost as long (sorry, have children)? And do you really want to work for 4500 odd years, and have to deal with all the problems the world throws at you for that long a time? Perhaps when you are very young, you see things differently, but when you get older, this kind of future looks like a nightmare to me.

This is a prime example of why we need to stretch our feet and reach toward the stars. Putting colonies on the moon, Mars (including Deimos & Phobos), some of Jupiter's and Neptune's moons, etc. will be a great advance in not allowing the overpopulation factor prohibit scientific advancement.

agree with xkamelx... and think of the problems it would solve... great scientists would live to continue their work which it turn would save more lives.... but i agree that over all it might not help us that much with over population e.t.c..

Let us not forget that the atmospheric composition might be toxic to us and that gravity plays an important factor in a planet. I would also check on the strength of the magnetic field as well. Being that close to a star would make me wonder if the field is stronger or weaker than ours. A moon would help to be orbiting around the planet as well.
