Her friend is the one who owns the forum, and who will buy the website I am going to make for her. They are like a political group of friends who are heavily into local politics. Oh I see. It´s because you said in your first post that you made that forum for your mom...

Hey I just checked to see if there were changes. The new color scheme looks nice and business/governmental. I think this will help them establish credibility as a politically active group to be reckoned with. Gender-neutral, too

LOL Yep! I've been EXTREMELY busy today, well yesterday. The lady came over today (yesterday) and I re-did everything on the site almost. She also bought a domain, and some web space, and I am going to beign work on the website soon. For now, I have it re-directing to the forum; www.cabellcountyinformer.comSo you guys take a look and see if you like the changes. I had very little net time today, the time I did have was reserved to doing the re-desing of the forum. As obivion saw, you'll notice the colors have changed, there is a new icon legend in the footers (I used the two cell table here on TR, just adjusted the size a bit) and a re-design of the banner. I still have a few things to do with the forum, but my main focus will be on this web site not, to get it up and running, which may prove to be a little more dificult then the forum. Ok, was only able to hop on for a minute, must give in to the Sandman.

I went back for a revisit today.
The only thing I wonder about is the decision to make most of the boards members-only. I realize this is the board owner's choice, but especially in a political forum I would assume the main point is discourse and "being heard". Your opinions won't be heard if they can't be seen.
Also (and this may be a minor concern given the community) there may be a tendency for people to sign up simply so they can "spy" on a group whose political ideas are different.
If she's amenable, I think most of the board should be visible to all, but only members can start threads and reply to threads.
And for those forums that she wants to make sure guests can't read, I'd make them COMPLETELY invisible so they don't even show up on the main page unless you're a member. Then, people are more likely to sign up out of a genuine interest in the group, not simply so they can be in on the secrets.
But, there may be excellent overriding reasons why this is the way to go, so take all of my comments with a grain of salt.

It was her choice. I personally prefer to allow guests to read, but have to be registered to post. TR is open to guests, it wasn't for a short while for security reasons, but a problem has passed, so I've opened most of the board back up. The forum they have broke off from was members only, so I think she is trying to copy that. Also, I've finally got the skeleton of the website uploaded today. In theory, all of the time and devotion will be put into the website, and once it gets regular readers, she hopes they will see the message board link, and go to the forum and chat. That's how alow of sites do it, but this is my first time involved with a forum that is being put second to a website. Even next month when TR has it's own website, it will be put second to Temporal Reality the forum. I'll let her know, and tell her we can experiment with it, different ways untill some time passes, and we see which works the best for that particular forum.

I just tried that link but the page won't load for me. Is it still there or just me?

I don't know, I no longer have anything to do with that site, or that forum, so I'm not sure what she is doing with the website currently.
