Which do you prefer? The origional Trilogy or the remastered versions of the OT? Personally I prefer the OT, mainly because the remastered ones kinda ruin some parts. Like how in A New Hope, when Luke is first training on the Millenium Falcon, his lightsaber is white instead of blue. And the added scene with Jabba and Han is just lame. Jabba, who is supposed to be super-computer mastered looks crap compared to the Jabba in ROTJ. Also, the different song in Jabba's Palace (ROTJ) just stinks, and so does the song at the end. Overall, George Lucas is just a twonk for thinking that his already perfectly-awesome-greatest-trilogy-ever could be made better by adding some CGI.

It's tricky, I prefer the originals more but the re-mastered have good and bad points.
A New Hope - Well yeah Jabba looked horrible like a real slug and compared to how he looks in Jedi they didn't even do a very good job matching it up.
The speeder run to Mos Eiley/or Ben's House was nice and i did like the extra atmosphere in Mos eisley (Around the outside) - wouldn't say I loved it, but I liked it.
Empire - benefited from removal of matte lines like all three (Especially on Hoth) and I loved the extra windows on Cloud City showing outside and the more extended arrival/shot to Leia in Clous city (Just before she meets lando for the first time.)
Jedi - Benefit - matte lines, I'm really not sure which ewok theme I prefer I think I prefer both. Jabba's palace was okay. Don't get me started on the remastered "Young Anakin though" - that was wrong. Luke had no emotional/physical knowledge of a young Anakin, it's only right we see the old guy! Just because we had some young actor for the prequels to make all the girlies squeal - it isn't an invitation to change history!

Oh so true, the young Anakin just ruins it totally. I mean, the only image Luke has ever had of his father is a white face with burn marks all over it and machines sticking out all over the place. Also, the song in Jabba's palace is aweful. All the new aliens, I mean, what the hell. Just wierd. Mixing CGI in with old-school imagery, just aweful. And the added "tongue" to Saarlac, now that was just not on. I'll agree with you Bones on the Cloud City part, it did look nice with the extra areas unseen before. Also, in A New Hope, when Han's head dodges Greedo's bullet, oh my god. Totally lame. Not only does Han's head moving that tiny inch look stupid, but the fact that Greedo shoots first is dumb. And then, when Han is talking with Jabba, Greedo is present standing under the Millenium Falcon's stancheon! Dumb. Just dumb. And did you notice why Jabba squirms when Han walks behind him? Because he steps on Jabba's tail. When they were filming that scene, Han stepped where Jabba's tail would have been so they just chopped in Jabba going "urgh" when he did so. Otherwise it would have looked stupid (but it already does anyway )

Raaagggh! Don't get me started on the Greedo situation! I feel as strongly about that as I do the Annakin saga. Mainly the original made Had seem more of a rogue and a sneak, the whole "Greedo shot first" is propitious They should've just left the Jabba scene on the cutting room floor! It added alot more mystery without it about which "Imperialists would be on his tail" I really must watch Jedi again I can't remember the extra tongue or the new aliens in Jabba's palace. I remember that of all the black matte lines in the three films, nowhere needed it as much as the Rancor, that looked alot better visually. Good job he didn't get his mate Speilberg in more otherwise the lightsabers would be replaced with walkie talkies!

Honestly, I can't really say as I haven't seen the original ones.
But I do think I prefer the SE's over the yet again remastered ones for the DVD release. Putting in Hayden at the end of ROTJ? Bleah.
So, for me, the Special Editions are just fine.. perhaps because I don't know any different.
Jabba the Hutt in ANH doesn't bother me; I think it would bother me more if I saw Jabba as a man first, than two movies later he was a Hutt. That and most of the other things, I think were well-deserved, from what little I know of the originals.

Good job he didn't get his mate Speilberg in more otherwise the lightsabers would be replaced with walkie talkies! The new aliens are just the stupid brown thing and the new dancers in the song. It's quite lame. Lol @ Spielberg. Reminds me of the South Park episode when they re-do Raiders of the Lost Ark and all the security guards have walkie talkies The Jabba scene wouldn't have been so bad if he didn't look so crap! I mean, what the hell. The crappy 1970 technology green screen Jabba looks fantastic compared to the super-futuristic CGI Jabba in ANH. He isn't fat enough, he's the wrong color, and it's just plain lame.

Colour [for Jabba] was a big problem, I thought he looked ill and pale in the SE A New Hope. I can't remember which film of the prequels it was probably The Phantom Menace, where he was on the balcony and even there he looked better. perhaps if he looked too good in the SE ANH he would stand out to much? The standing on the tail stil makes me twitch nevertheless.

I agree, his color is pretty off. He does look greyish/green, although I'll admit this does make him look more like a slug, but he still looked very sluggish in the origionals, moreso probably in ROTJ because he's lying on his side most of the time, massing his body into a giant blob I'll admit that of course the matte lines is a nice improvement, although when i first saw the origional trilogy it was on VHS on a 14cm TV screen, so it was pretty unnoticable, but then when I got a HD TV, they're really obvious but I don't mind them. The movies are still awesome

The only time I really see the lines are during the scene with Luke fighting the rancor. They somewhat annoy me, but the scene is short, so, meh.

Really? I never see the lines when Luke's fighting the Rancor. I only ever saw the lines when it was tie-fighters and other space craft. They're really, really obvious in ANH when Luke and Han are fighting the two tie fighters. It's probably only really obvious in the space scenes because they lines are dark greyish and space is black and dotted with white stars, so they kind of stand out against that. But other than that, I never really noticed any others.

Even as a kid I could never miss those fat black matte lines around the Rancor! It was like an elephant in an empty room! I've just watched A New Hope again today (Hope to watch Empire shortly), so what about some of these other things from A New Hope: - No Wolfman in Mos Eisley Cantina
- Extra shot of outisde Obi Wan's house/ mainly -Extra travel to Mos Eisley and extras in and around the space port.
- Inserts (Minor) - Pann down on R2-D2 before encounter with Jawas, outside the Rebel Base before the meeting etc *All minor but only touch on them if they have any relevance.

I don't mind the addition of the extras in Mos Eisley; I think it makes it more thriving and busy, like it should be. Plus, it's not a "huge" change to the plot or anything. Same goes with the inserts you mentioned.
And the only reason I know these are added is from the beginning of my SE VHS where they explain the SE changes, lol. I don't think they talked about the Wolfman, so I don't miss him, since I haven't seen the originals yet.

I just watched the origionals then watched the remasters, and I noticed the remasters where much darker, which I didn't like. And the matte lines could still be seen, just very very faintly. Although, I do have a HD TV (¢¾¢¾¢¾¢¾¢¾).
I don't mind the remasters, I just don't like the additions of things. Like Greedo shooting first... totally lame. And the scene with Jabba, lame. Plus, Greedo is in the background! Unless his whole species looks exactly the same (which I guess they do) he shouldn't be there. And... Boba Fett's new voice: laaaaaame. I never was a big fan of Boba like my brother, but still, the change of voice? Laaaame.

Haha... it's probably just another Rodian in the background. But I agree... Some of the remastering was needed, I mean, they were old tapes. But some of the additions are hard to get used to. Especially switching in Hayden at the end of ROTJ (for the DVD revisions).
