So the film is due in less than a month's time, anyone else as excited about this as I am? The trailor looks amazing. I haven't read the book yet though, I hate seeing films and knowing the storyline and then reading the book. A book is always so much more enjoyable to not know what happens than a film ever is. Sadly I cant get hold of it at the moment, don't really have the money for it.
Anyone here actually read the book out of interest? I don't think Iv heard a single bad report on that book, everyone that I've spoken to seems to love it.
Ooooo the excitement. We haven't had a high end fantasy film for a while now, I'm really looking forwards to this.

The trailer looks incredibly cheesy to me.
I've heard plenty of bad reviews of the book from people more learned in the fantasy genre. Apparently it's a rip-off of basically every famous series out there, all jumbled together, while being obvious that it was written by a teenager.
I can't wait for the music, though. It's by my favorite composer.

Patrick Doyle. He made his fame by doing the Kenneth Brannagh Shakespeare movies. He got a bit more popular with Secondhand Lions, and got his real big break with Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

Cool, well I dont really know his music, out of all those things I've only seen the Harry Potter and I've only seen it once and don't remember the music all that well.
Its got some great actors though as well, including one of my favourites, the wonderful Robert Carlyle and of course the great John Malkovich is in it too. I just hope this unknown lad that plays Eragon isn't another Daniel Radcliffe in the first Harry Potter because that would be a real shame.

I'm not sure if the actors can save the film from a bad script. And I'm not sure the screenwriters can save the film from cliched material.

Wow, you really are pessimistic about this film. Well I shall keep my hope because its been so long since the last decent bit of fantasy on our screens and I just hope that this film will be it.

Sigh...the moive was ish...it took me so long to tell my dad everything they left out... and if they did it more like the book and CP helped them then Eragon could have been like as popular as HP in the moive...well I think...

This has been the most critically-bashed movie I remember in a long time. For some reason,t his makes me really happy. Nobody copies Star Wars and gets away with it.

Haha.. I realized the similarities to Star Wars, as well. Anyway, I just saw it.. and it was.. short. I felt like a lot of things were missing or that they rushed some of the plot along. I haven't read the book, so I can't comment on that. And the movie ended really abruptly... which made sense later when I realized it was just the first part of a three-book series. Anyone know if they're gonna continue and make the other books into movies?
