OK. I watched the orriginal BG. I liked it. When I found out there was going to be a mini series that was all about a new show. I watched it. I like it
When I saw the previews of a new series, I got excited. The new series started. I watched it. I'm bored. When is this show going to even compare to the old cheesey original show? I honestly don't like it and am about to give up on it
So far, it's boring, dark, and just generally not making me want to watch it again. There has been maybe eight minutes of action, and a whole bunch of boring talk
The Cylon ships are organic and don't even need a pilot? I hate the way the camera shifts around in close up conversations. I hate the fact that I'm bored when watching this new show I couldn't wait for. The Cylons don't even talk for cryin' out loud!!!
I am very dissapointed in this show so far. Thoughts? Anyone?

Wow. Yet another "Battlestar Galactica" thread. So, this couldn't have been added to an existing thread?

Wow. Yet another "Battlestar Galactica" thread. So, this couldn't have been added to an existing thread? Seeings how this is a new thread that isn't Pro-Galactica, I think it's warrented to be a new thread. If you don't have anything to add to it please don't bother posting in it. Thank you Kapt~`'-

Well, the only thing that your post could add would be your perspective on it, yes? By adding it to a "pro-positive" thread, you'd be opening that thread to a new view and opening it up for discussions, breathing more life into this forum.

Be nice. Sometimes threads become so large with so many ideas that it's a good idea to create a new thread for a new point. In fact, there is talk in the Suggestions board about a BSG board. The more threads about BSG is only a positive thing for the possible BSG board. Kapt, I consider myself a luckier man then you. I absolutely LOVE the new BSG series. I'll agree with one thing, and that it is a dark series. That is one of the reasons why I love it. If I wanted to see happy go lucky television, well I have hundreds of shows to choose from. The darkness reminds of Deep Space Nine. I think what they are doing, is setting up for more 'action packed things. DS9 was off to a crawl. Wen I watched season 1, I loved it, but then again I was a Trekkie. After seeing the whole series and looking back, DS9 season one was mostly talk, character development, Bajoran politics, history lessons of Cardassia occupying Bajor, more history lessons of the Prophets, ect. But look at what DS9 did. It taught us everything we needed to know, and set up so when it got going really fast, and the war started, we knew so many people and really, really cared about what was going on. Currently we are watching the crew, learning about them, how they interact with each other, watching them grow through this terrible time, grow through their pain. We are learning about the Cylons, how they believe in God, how they feel pain like we do, the reasons as to why they turned on us, what they hope to accomplish with this war. We see the human and Cylon on Cylon occupied Caprica... They just set a cabin up in the woods with food and electricity so Helo and that Cylon chick and mate and start a family. Where's that going? Baltar knows the truth behind the attack, knows more then any other human, and is not speaking. What will eventually come of that? I think there is so much to this series. The ending of each episode leaves me longing to see the next. I think this is an awesome show. They could only ruin it by making it anything like the original. But I guess that is only my opinion.

I don't think they would "ruin" it by making it more like the original but I do think there are several things that the original series had that the new series could also use.....such as some on planet interaction with other species....the Galactica was always having several shows themed around on world plots.....I get the feeling you are almost never going to see this new crew ever set foot on a planet the whole journey..lol But overall I do like the series...and I like the character development thats going on.....one thing I don;t see happening though Myke.....how would the cylon chick and Helo mate and have a family? I don;t think cylons are that advanced that they can get pregnant....they are still machines after all.

As a Daggit I say Yes make a BSG board. Yeah I know, I say Im a Trekkie, a Jedi, a Daggit, a Superhero, and a few more titles. But I believe the 2 threads you had going arent enough. OOOooo a new board I can get in on the ground floor about something I plan on ODin' on.
Now yes I LOVE BSG2.0. Yet it is no Battlerstar Galactica. Sorry. I had said it to my bestfriend when the Pilot ( you can call it a miniseries, but lets be real.) came out. Just tonight he turns to me and repeats my words back to me. As I give him the arched eyebrow, he gives the shoulder shrug replying how he didnt doubt me but had to see for himself.
I love your analogy to DS9 and the building of the plotlines, with the character development and history building. Hell, any show that builds up a fan base enough to keep a show alive long enough for it to get REALLY good ( ie Friends, Sienfeld, Law & Order. I still prefer DS9 myself.). When you have the ability to go back and look at the development, you can see the characters grow. Now just like DS9 keep in mind who has a hand in this show....R Moore. His track record with show ive seen have been top notch in my book.
Now DARK...?...?... BY THE LORDS OF KOBOL. I pray we get a brighter episode. Not that I want campy save the universe in an hour story. No, not in the least. I just want a story about the human spirit winning against terrible odds and coming thru in decent shape to have something to celebrate. Not just mistrust, lies ,suspicion, backstabbing, ..... I know somewhere in the next 3 episodes ( I predict ) there will be profiteering on a disturbing scale. I can see the compromises being made now.
I love the Graphix for the space scenes. Following the laws as we know them today. Yet this is where I have a prob. Not with the space scenes.....with the fact that it seems like THEY LEFT EARTH. All the references and terminolgy sounds like they just left somewhere from THIS PLANET. There is no mythos to make it stand out. The acting and storytelling and special effects are all it has. And I fell they are relying on the latest craze of using AI's for every type of baddie threatening humanity. Frak....Now you can tie BSG2.0 into the Terminator Matrix plot connections.(( The Cylons found Earth and Humans in a dying attempt TimeTravel back which causes the Causality Loop of the Terminator, which leads to the Matrix in the finality of my mad rant)) Now since everything must be PC and entertaining, AI's are a great enemy.
Yet if this goes where I think it will......Then the God of the Cylons will be Count Iblis. I never doubt my gut or my senses. I'll go into the reasons at another time.
and the cylon can get pregnant.....just you watch. They already said how much like us they are down the cell level. How hard would it be then to use an egg thats been modified ( as weve seen with the bioengineered ships) and accept some sperm. I can easily see these ( ahem FELDERGARB, cheap ass way out of using writing instead of FX.) Cylons incubating a hybrid.
Suffice it to say I like and will watch the show right along with StarGate 1 & 2. Yet I gotta be me and dream about writing a NitPickers Guide To (fill in fav SciFi show here)
and I feel and discussion should be seprated between BSG & BSG2.0

Well, you all make some good points here. I'm just hoping I'm wrong about my initial thoughts on this show. I haven't quit watching it or anything. Maybe I'm just bored with how it's developing
Instead of using Star Trek as an example of why I could be wrong here, I'll use the Batman movies. The first one was explanitory, and boring. The rest were great and exciting. But without the explanation of the first one, the rest would have made no sence (to the uninformed Batman fan anyway). Maybe that's how this new BG is going to be?
And Myke, a BG board isn't a bad idea

OK you 2 far frakkin nuts. Keaton was a passable batman, he was a great Bruce Wayne. There is a differnce. All others as the Batz SUX, plain and simple.
NOW CAN WE PLEASE GET BACK ON TOPIC.
Go talk about the dark pedophile hiding in the all-concealing shadows in the proper thread. I still dont see how a reply using batman has turned this into batman's thread.?.?.?.
PLEASE Make a BSG Board
