This has all been mentioned, but not really discussed. So who do you like better?
For me, it's still a little early to tell. But I think I like them both after getting a little bit more used to the idea of Starbuck getting a sex-change ;D

I had to vote I don;t care because I like them both.....BUT I have to say I do like Dirk Benedicts Starbuck a little better just because of the smooth cocky gigalo type character he played...it was fun. The new Starbuck is good as well....but she is more of a tormented hateful soul and is the opposite of the the original in personality.

Those are good points. FOr me it's still to early to make a judgement. Right now I would have to go with Starbuck the guy. But, after Starbuck the gal's character developes a bit more I could change my mind. So I haven't voted yet becaue I'm not sure. Anyone else?

You guys have me at a disadvantage here, because I'm not at all familiar with the original, male Starbuck.
I've only known the female version.
I will say that I think she is a good character. She carries around a lot of demons, like passing Adama's son in flight school, even though he wasn't ready - which lead to his death. She also is a tough little girl, both in fighting the Cylons and standing up for what she believes in aboard the Galactica.

Too soon to tell for me, too. The original Starbuck was a fun character, but he didn't develop much to speak of as the series progressed. I tend to prefer characters that are subtly but essentially changed by their experiences.
But a female Starbuck takes some getting used to. I almost wish they'd named her something else so we wouldn't be drawn into comparsions of the old vs. the new since they are SOOO different.

Think of Starbuck in the original a lot like the same character he played in the A-Team....Face.....he was a smooth talker who was always after a good time and fast women.....lol

True statement. They were pretty much the same character. However I don't think Face can fly a Viper

STARBUCK
Not Kara Starbuck. Dont get me wrong, I like the new Starbuck. But it is only a callsign.
Yet the 1 advantage that BSG2.0 has over the original is the fact that characters will develop more depth. The original never lasted past 1 season of development. and any show has shown that characters never really blossom until 3rd season. Unless you have a good writing team that knows how to dance together. (ie - worked together before with no major pissing contest amongst egos)
Starbuck was Han Solo for TV. He was the Pappy of the Black Sheep Squadron of Space. He had a Streak of Kirk in him. If BSG had the ability to grow like BSG2.0 will have. Oh, the landscape of SciFi would be a bit different. Exactly how much, I couldnt say as I am not a Slider.

You sure I didnt miss 1 Kapt....?.........
Think about the character.......Thats why you like those examples.....cause they all have that same flair, that streak of defiance and still have a commanding air about themselves. ( ie - being part of the group but having their own flavor about it.)
