Galactica Renewed For Season Three
SCI FI Channel announced that it has renewed its original series Battlestar Galactica for a third season. Production on the 20-episode order is slated to begin in Vancouver, Canada, in February 2006 for premiere later in the year, the network said.
The entire ensemble cast returns for the new season, including Edward James Olmos, Mary McDonnell, Katee Sackhoff, Jamie Bamber, James Callis, Tricia Helfer and Grace Park. Also returning are executive producer and writer Ronald D. Moore and executive producer David Eick.
Currently in its second season, Galactica is a hit with audiences. The second season resumes with new episodes on Jan. 6, 2006, as part of the winter premiere of SCI FI Friday.
WooT..........but is it me or is the wording in this notice kinda suprising.?.?.?.Like its an afterthought they should sign for another season and have the same cast n crew doing it. How long before the next season is due are ya gonna start to make new episodes.?.?.?.Sheeeeesh. Makes me worry about the beancounters and the life expectancy of BSG2.0.
Now Im not saying there should be a parade for this honor. But just seems a lil lackluster reporting by SciFi about a hit show for them.

Thanks for the info SunRay. Hopefully they won't end up cancelling this series prematurely as they did Farscape.

No chance they'll dump this. They know a good thing when they've got it. There's a decent following here. and its not just scifi folks. Im not scifi. Im all about a good series, whatever it may be. This is compelling and if it turn out to be like Xfiles.. I'll be SORELY dissapointed. The baby story line worried me.. but after part 1 of season finally, not so much. We've been assured that its not Xfiles and based on the formula- which is-- create a new drama inside the big picture, resolve new drama each episode but always keep or add to the big picture.. Im still a believer. However.. there ARE some dramas (finding earth for one) that I'm still waiting for. I don't mind the wait.. as long as I'm not 'lied' to. An end is an end. I like that. The writers assure us, there was a complete story before they started. Let's see if the produceres keep to that word.
