We last left most of the crew on New Caprica. Baltar is the president now (a seemingly corrupt president), Chief and Cally are expecting a baby, Admiral Adama commands a nearly empty Galactica, Starbuck is married to a near dying husband, Laura Roslin is again a teacher...
The Cylons invade. The fleet takes off leaving the colony behind. Baltar surrenders the colony to the Cylons, who are now lead by revolutionist Cylons who bring a peace offering.
A LOT happened in the last two episodes of BSG, a lot. Season 3 is a little over a month away, and I cannot wait. BSG is by far my favorite scifi show on television right now. I love how well it has evolved, and do not mind at all that a year has passed since they settled on New Caprica.
So, are you looking forward to season 3? Where did the fleet escape to? How will they save their colonists, and will they need to be saved. Are the Cylons true in their offering of peace, or do they have other motives in mind?

Right now, I am so frustrated with BSG, I'm not sure I am going to even watch it. I only caught half the episodes as they aired last season (I don't have cable, so it is a struggle to see any Scif-Fi shows.), and was hoping to fill the gaps on DVD. The way they have dragged their feet releasing the second half of the season just angers me...but, being a good sci-fi fan, I will probably tune in despite my misgivings. The last thing I want is for it to be cancelled. [/rant]
With all that said, I love the direction they took. With this decisive a split from the plotline of the original series, I hope we will finally be done with the constant fan whining about male vs female versions of characters, the darkness of the series and all that nonsense. I missed a few episodes, so I really don't want to speculate until I finally get them filled in. I also can't wait.

Oh wow, that's terrible. Have they released all of them yet?

They will be released on September 19th. I already have my pre-order in at Amazon...but even if I bump the shipping, I still won't get them before the season starts. I suppose I should look into the podcasts, but I want to have them on DVD anyway. I am seriously considering lifting my boycott of cable TV...

You're boycotting Cable TV? I guess you could always lift the boycott for the duration of BSG season 3, then resume it after the season is over.

Yep. I killed it about three years ago after a spat with the local cable company and have been spending the money on DVD's instead. It was right when reality TV got out of control and before the Sci-Fi channel started getting really good. I wasn't even into Stargate then, so I didn't miss it until I picked up all the DVD sets.
I can still catch the essential series (Stargate, Atlantis and BSG) on Fridays at the bar I play darts at. The manager is a sci-fi nut and keeps one of the TV's tuned in when new episodes are on. The only other thing I miss is sports (NFL mostly), and my team (the Bears) are never broadcast locally.

That's pretty cool, I've never seen a bar play shows like that. ;D
All in all you're not missing out on much. I have digitial cable with over 100 channels and 10 HBO's and still find it difficult to find something good on TV. I end up using On Demand more times then not.
