Gandalf's Staff and Sword
The Staff
Gandalf's Staff is more than just a simple walking stick. He uses it in his struggle with Saruman until Saruman is able to take it from him which ends the fight.
Gandalf uses it as a light in Moria and then as a defensive weapon against the Balrog at the Bridge of Khazad-dûm.
When Gandalf returns from his death-fall, he uses the Staff as a shield against the attack of Aragorn, Gimli and Legolas.
At the Golden Hall in Edoras, Gandalf uses the staff to draw Saruman out of King Théoden and break his spell.

In The Fellowship of the Ring, Gandalf the Grey carried an old wooden staff, which also housed his pipe, but it was lost when he was captured by Saruman in Isengard.
After Gandalfs escape he possessed a new staff but it too was lost when he was slain in Khazad-dum, while defending his companions from the Balrog.
In The Two Towers, Gandalf was sent back to Middle-Earth as Gandalf the White, and to complete his task he was given a new white staff to aid in the battle to defeat Sauron.
The staff was adorned with an intricate and delicately styled crown that held a great power. Next to his trusty sword Glamdring, the white staff was Gandalf’s chief weapon.
The Sword
Glamdring is an ancient and magical sword carried by Gandalf and serves him in his mission to aid the Fellowship of the Ring.
It was made by ancient Elves and is inscribed with runes in the Elven language that say "Turgon, king of Gondolin, wields, has, and holds the sword Glamdring, Foe of Morgoth's realm, Hammer of the Orcs."
