Is there anything that you didn't quite grasp when you first read from any of Tolkiens books? Or are there any queries you have about the world of Middle-Earth (and the greater world abound it - Arda)? Ask them here - and then see if anyone can come up with an answer for you.

Well, I've got "The A to Z Guide to Middle Earth" which is a very good source of information for this. I will also help.

Nice thread idea. This should also be good help to those who are really new to Tolkien if any. Tolkien-virgins, as we like to call them.
I'd like to help out too.

. Tolkien-virgins, as we like to call them. That'd be me then, I couldn't grasp the books but found the movies easy to watch. Ok, here's one I couldn't figure out, maybe I didn't oay enough attention.. What was wrong with the elf (Liv Tyler) in which her health was failing ??

The science of the Evenstar. I haven't read the books in awhile so the movie may have changed things, but I don't think so. The elves are immortal, and their immortality is linked with the evenstar, in which she gave to Aragorn. What powers the jewel is hope. And as hope for the safety of Middle Earth by the destruction of the Ring ran down, he health started to detiorate. If Sauron had captured the Rings, then she would have dies right there. At least that's how I see it. I could be wrong.

I have question- What does Legolas do for the rest of his life? Is he regarded as a hero for joining the fellowship, does he go to the Undying lands, or what? I love Orlando Bloom, so I'm curious as to what his character does to finish his life off . . .

Like many characters involved in The War of The Ring, not much is known about Legolas after the beginning of the Fourth Age (which is defined as when the rings of power had come to an end and the ringbearers had passed into the West). He sails to Valinor (the Undying Lands) with Gimli 120 years after Aragorn becomes King. Nothing is known about him after that.

Aragorn spends the rest of his life rebuilding the Re-United Kingdoms of Gondor and Arnor. He died at the age of just over 200 - all we know after that is that his son, Eldarion was ready to take over as King.

Lol .. . I'm going to keep at this . . . Gandalf? Frodo? Both Frodo and Gandalf leave the shores of Middle-Earth. (That's easy to remember because thats what happens in the films) Frodo departed when he was 52 years old, two years after returning to the Shire having completed his quest. He left on his birthday - 22nd September, 1421 Shire Reckoning. Gandalf returned to Valinor at the same time that Frodo did. The destruction of the Ring, and the downfall of the Lord of the rings (Sauron the Great), meant that Gandalf's long labours in Middle-Earth had come to an end, and was therefore allowed to return home.
