With the season 3 drop in Enterprise's ratings, one has to wonder just how long they will keep Enterprise around. Here are the averages in Enterprise seasons ratings. .. . - Season 1 - 4.15
- Season 2 - 2.89
- Season 3 (to date) - 2.6
Source - www.ece.ucdavis.edu/~mvrojo/entratings.htmEnterprise has been on a gradual decline since it's debut. WWE Smackdown on UPN is even scoring better ratings then Enterprise. With such a decline, it makes me wonder how much longer they will keep Enterprise around. I wouldn't imagine too much longer. However I do hope that it lasts long enough to bring closure on the crew of NX-01, as opposed to stopping production in the middle of the continuing story. ~Myke

More than likely it will go the full 7 seasons Myke. Voyager had worse ratings and it stayed on 7 seasons.
Sad thing is, I lost interest all together this season and not even bother watching it when it is on, instead I watch something else and Tivo it, because I lost interest alot. This season is almost as boring as last season so far. Where is the non stop action that they promised before this season?
After this I highly doubt there be another series though.

I agree Mike. The Xindi season looked promising, with the elite militarty force on Enterprise and all. However I continue to watch just for the fact that it is star trek. Much like I watch WWE, just because it is WWE.
I do hope it lasts 7 seasons though, it may get better. Despite Voyagers' low ratings, I absolutly love voyager, although I can see the flaws in it as well.
As far as no more Star Trek series, I hope you are wrong, although I cant possable think of any more ideas for one. So far we have the begining of space tavel (Enterprise) the mid years (TOS) The past recent (DS9) and The past present (VGR). The only other concept I can think of is the future, perhaps in the 29th century where Starfleet has Time Ships. Or maybe having Voyagers crew merge with the Enterprise 1701 E. As cool as I think tht would be, I wonder how the mases would take it.

With ratings, keep in mind that Star Trek is still one of UPN's better shows. The other factor to consider is the cost of production. If the actors for Enterprise aren't making much, then there shouldn't be a problem.
RE: Season 3 It hasn't exactly been action packed or suspenseful. This Xindi plot seems to be rather drawn out. Also, I think they are trying to be a bit more sexual, but that won't really help ratings.

I agree SF, while I find T'Pol extremly attractive, I don't tune into Enterprise for a sexual fix. I tune in for compelling storys, and to make my imagination wonder.
With those cloaking speres in the Delpic expanse, it would be interesting if some race used the same technology to cloak an entire section of space, some 100 lighteays, where we can meet some totally new species.

I think Enterprise should just have T'Pol and Archer have sex and get it over with, that way they can move forward and get to the action/adventure that was promised before the season started.
The ratings are actually going down as the season progresses, maybe the creators should take a hint and spice up the action instead of continuing the storyline the way it is going now.
Keep in mind, DS9 had the same problems for a while, but they changed the format just enough to include other things into the show during the 5th season, to make the continuing angle not seem so boring, and it worked as ratings actually rose for the 6th/7th Seasons that WGN actually asked for an 8th Season.

I am kind of with you spock. The expanse/Xindi storyline is too drawn out for me, given the lack of plot developments we get. I wish they would just get on to business where we see some action or interesting plot developments.
It looks like we may have to wait until January for a new episode.

Yeah, January is when the next new episode will broacast.
At first I was nintrguied by the fact that this season was one episodic storyline. It started off mysterious and exciting, but I feel they have dropped the ball. Two episodes that come to mind are the one where they cloned Trip (SIMM) and the one where the microbes infected Archer's brain. Neither one of those were Xindi related, the Enterprise NX-01 came no closer to finding the xindi or thier weapon, which (although entertaining) kind of made the episodes redundant as one could miss the episode, and still not fall behind the Xindi storyline.
The Delphic Expanse was a good idea because since Enterprise is a prequal, it still gave us the sence of them traveling into the unkown. Remember, what is unknown to them, is known to us via TOS, TNG, DS9, VGR, but at least this way it was unkown to both the NX-01 and us viewers. I also aprrecaited how the anamolies were formed, through those speheres, a warning to kep people out. There was a lot of suspense but I'm still awaiting the climax, and Enterprise hasnt been doing alot in getting us there.
Who know's perhaps in January things will change.

The problem with Enterprise and the long drawn out plot, is the fact they are not doing it like they did with DS9.
Almost the enitre 7th season of DS9 related to the war and concluding it, but whenever they had episodes that dealt with the war, they had battles and plotlines that kept you interested and wanting to see the next episode, Enterprise is not doing that at all with the Xindi.
For a race that wants to destroy the Enterprise and the human race, this cloak and dagger crap doesn't cut it, especially if they are supposedly technologically advanced.
