Like the Voyager thread, post about your favourite episodes or ones you are re-watching. I'm picking up from season 5 again and watched In The Cards. Y'know I've always loved Nog, and all his relatives, mostly Quark and Rom, but I love how Nog is all "Starfleet" as Be'lanna would say to Kim in Voyager, but still retains his humour. Another thing that struck me this time is Jake, I laughed when I realised he was so shrewd in getting the card and becoming quite wise and adult now, yet some of his thinking was childlike still - like doing things for Giger "because he's got the card"(!) The thinking in only a way a child/teen can. Great little two-handler with Jake and Nog though, with fleeting scenes from the others.

I really liked the episode as well. As I have said elsewhere, Jake and Nog are two of the most underrated characters in sci-fi television. The level to which they were taken makes it difficult for me to watch TNG and see Wesley Crusher whine.
Just remember - keep your cells entertained and you will live forever! lol

It's Only a Paper Moon was an excellent Nog episode, and Explorers was a great Jake episode. I also like Jake's role in the first arc in season 6, when the Dominion controlled DS9. I really enjoyed season 5, and all the build-up to the actual Dominion War. There was excellent character development all around.

Pick a fav DS9 eppy. That's hard for me to do since I love almost every one of them except for the ones that featured The Negus. I couldn't stand that whiney voice he chose to use for the character
The only Frengi based eppy I really liked was the (I forget the title) one where they went to the other Space Station with a Dominion guy. It had Ziggy Pop as a main character. Was it The Magnificent Ferengi or something?

Was it The Magnificent Ferengi or something? You are right on the episode title www.imdb.com/title/tt0708628/I love that one as well. The training scenes remind me of an 80's movie about a group of Vietnam vets who train for a mission to rescue their former comrads from a POW camp...only spoofed. DS9 was such a serious series most of the time, so episodes that really made you laugh were even more appreciated.

That actually may be my fav eppy in the series now that I think about it. Maybe I'll pull out the DVD later and watch it again

Star Trek Voyager was a disappointment because it did not have hot babe as a captain who could do things captain kirk, having sex on every planet he visited and the uniform was too conservative women should have been in mini-skirts.

The Original Series, much as it's my favourite series, was a product of it's time/when it was filmed though, hence the mini skirts. Or course a lot budget and sets as well, but again it;s irrellivant and you can't hold too much against it for that. Anywho, back to DS9... I've picked up season 6 again, which previously I had seen the odd episode of. Half-way through through season 3 it became much better with a arc of Dominion/Founders/Jem' Hadar, season 4 the war had just begun and the series became exciting - war, strong continuing story arcs but still individual episode length individual stories. Season 5 in the same respect as four, but with an almighty cliffhanger reguarding the station... Then season 6 - Story arc! Story arc! Story arc! From what I've seen it became truely amazing in season 6. I thought it was a very big bold move leaving the station but going back and forth from one to the other, very very good! Thoughts?

Thanks to this thread I have just started watching DS9 again. I'm a little over half way through season one. Since I have mostly nothing to do tomorrow I'll be far past that by the time I post here again ;D

How did you get on with this, how far did you get in the end?
Unfortunately after season #5 the TV channel i watched it on went right back to series 1 instead of 6 & 7! Grrr. I'm destined never to see the end of DS9!

The last couple of seasons of DS9 were definitely the best. I agree with you Bones about the story arc, and everything around that period of the war.
Incidentally, the man responsible for DS9 being as good as it was is also responsible for the new Battlestar Galactica, which, in my opinion, was one of the absolute best shows in the history of TV.
On that note, of all of the shows I've followed to the end, Deep Space Nine and Battlestar Galactica both had the best endings to a series I've ever seen. Both shows closed things up perfectly and gave me a feeling of completion and fulfillment,
