Virgin Media gives us a little look at a few pictures from the movie: www.virginmedia.com/movies/galleries/previews/star-trek-xi.php?ssid=1So whaddya think? I have been very highly skeptical of this film. I feel if they have to go backwards they're running out of material. It might have worked for Batman but I don't think a re-imagining of the original Star Trek can work. The cast are just a bit too "Pretty", notably Kirk, so the story is going to have to be exceptional. Could this be the final nail in the Star Trek coffin?

I was rally dead set against this movie at first. Now I have high hopes that it will be good. As you say, it could be the final nail in the coffin. Enterprise didn't work so what are they thinking recasting TOS? I truly hope it works well

I think the movie is going to be a smashing success. Every new picture that comes out makes me act like a kid in a candy store. I know some people who are purists are going to be upset with some of the little things that "aren't the way they should be," but I think the story is going to be so epic that a few tech gadgets that don't look right, and a new design for the NCC-1701 isn't really going to matter.
Then again, if they don't properly promote the film to the general public and no one except the die-hards go see it, they could kill the franchise. It's going to be interesting to see what happens. Personally, I support the film and think it's going to be great.

If this is new material at that site, then they are way behind, as those pics were released a month ago. And they aren't even showing the full size images. Go to this page for links to much larger versions of those images: trekmovie.com/2008/10/15/more-star-trek-images-enterprise-crew-nero/And released in just the past week, an image of the Enterprise herself:

Neither of those are "real". They are both fanmade. The image I posted is so far the only real image out there of the whole ship (we saw a small bit of it in the teaser trailer, which is what the modelers based those models on in those pics).

The first one looks the same as the one you posted to me. Oh well. Enjoy this then

Well, after seeing the new trailer at www.startrekmovie.com , all I can say is "WOW!!!!!" I don't know where Jim Kirk managed to find an early 60's model Corvette in 22-thirtysomething, but he sure did wreck it! I also thought it was interesting how he almost fell off a cliff. Same thing happened when he was climbing El Capitan, and it ultimately killed him on Veridian III. Interesting coincidence. Also, I'm wondering if the law enforcement official that was following him was a regular police officer or a Starfleet officer. As for the rest of this action packed trailer, I'm wondering what Jim said to Spock to get him to react so violently. Spock must've had poor emotional control in the early days, or perhaps Jim said something that really got to him. Looks like we'll have to wait and see on that one. The space battles looked pretty cool, and the scene with Kirk and Sulu fighting (presumably) Nero's men was pretty intense. It looked like a Grav-Platform that they were on. Something to lift cargo from the ground into Space and vice versa. This is purely my own personal speculation though. I remain very excited and positive about this film. I think that the new trailer is exactly what it needed to be. I like the new transporter effects, too!

I've got some issues with it, but I'm not going to get into it now. I think I'll wait for the movie and see if I can blow it full of holes after I see it

Kapt, I look forward to your hole blowing.
To me, this doesn't look like a Star Trek film. What it looks like from the trailer is a young adult/teen movie that happens to have a Star Trek theme. The fact that it's a prequel already has major points against it. But like Kapt I won't go into too many of the issues I have.
If I am to seriously believe that this crew was together since they were that young, someone's going to have to explain that one. As in, was this mentioned in any series episodes or anything?
