Yes, everyone, Canon issues are ABOUNDING with this film. I think , however, that it will somehow fix everything, hopefully not through a new alternate Starfleet reality being created, but I hope SOMEHOW they can fix it. There's already issues with the TOS episode where Kirk can't drive a stick in "A Piece of the Action." Also with Star Trek IV, where he has difficulty driving there as well. I think if we all can stop "nit-picking" we will find that this is an awesome movie in Gene's tradition. Naturally, Hollywood is trying to give it a more relevant persona. They know Trek is an ailing franchise and it needs something new to give it a boost. A reboot of TOS is, in my opinion, exactly what we need. It can connect TOS with a new generation. Sure, if the kids these days go out and buy TOS Remastered, they may not like the Bridge and the rest of the sets (They are VERY dated), but hopefully it will draw young people into the story. To Gene Roddenberry's message that Humanity CAN unite and will do something amazing in the future!
Let us not forget Gene's Vision, and let us not abandon Star Trek now. It's up to us to help the franchise that we all know and love, "Live Long and Prosper."

One more thing I was thinking...
Why isn't this board on FIRE since the release of the new trailer? And all the spoilers from trekmovie.com? There are too many of us here who love Trek to be sitting on the sidelines right now!
Sad to say, but maybe another mass e-mail needs to be sent to every member to try to get them back.

I have a question about the trailer. About a minute and ahalf into it you see Spock hitting someone. His badge is on the wrong side. Is there going to be some kind of mirror universe thing going on? I truly hope this movie is as good as it's s'posed to be. I can't wait to see it, I also can't wait to pick it apart KUDOS on remembering Kirk can't drive a stick shift though I didn't catch that

Will this movie be like the The Original Series? In TOS Kirk was the captain with a girl in every world, Scotty would be drinking booze like a fish. That was the charm of TOS. Picard kept his pants on and Janeway was an ice queen of the Delta Quadrant. Unless the main elements of TOS are there then the movie would not be worth watching at all. In terms of technology I don't really care what kind stuff they have added. The movie should action, sex and some great science fiction tale tell. Otherwise this would be the end of the Star Trek franchise forever.

So you've seen the movie? No. It's just obvious. What possible reason would there be of showing Spock wearing a mirror-image uniform? Seriously? Also, an officially released image from the movie: Looks normal to me.

If I am to seriously believe that this crew was together since they were that young, someone's going to have to explain that one. As in, was this mentioned in any series episodes or anything? ^^ So can anyone explain this, or is it a cannon issue? Will this movie be like the The Original Series? In TOS Kirk was the captain with a girl in every world, Scotty would be drinking booze like a fish. That was the charm of TOS. I haven't seen the movie, it has yet to be released. I saw the trailer, young Spock seemed more violent. I checked IMDB and found out Pike was the Captain not Kirk. I don't know where they are going with this - I just hope it is worth watching.

I don't know where they are going with this - I just hope it is worth watching. Pike was captain of the Enterprise before Kirk. Also, it makes sense that a young Spock would have a hard time dealing with his emotions. He is half Human, after all. I'm sure it was a constant struggle for him to be in control all the time. Plus, there is a spoiler that perfectly explains why Spock has such an intense reaction to Kirk's taunting. Have no fear. They know where they're going. =)

TOS had what TNG never had, the spirit of discovery. Beaming down on planets with absolutely no technology a more hands on approach. Truly seeking 'new life and new civilisations'. It did not matter what their technology level was the captain set foot on the planet. Kirk was a womaniser and that was what spiced up the show. Of course it was silly to find humans on every planet not creatures who looked did not have resemble humans in any way. What was also silly to assume that every planet was united and had one leadership. Each planet could be divided in several countries and races. In TNG all the adventures took place in the holodeck, that was not star trek that was a soap opera on the Enterprise, hardly ever did the crew of the Enterprise venture out and land on any planet because of the Prime Directive. So the TNG Enterprise never made any discoveries whatsoever. Star Trek Enterprise died because of this Prime Directive rubbish.hated when Dr. Floxx refused assist a dying race - I did not want to watch the show, what really killed it was the Xindi episodes they just went on and on. Instead of the Enterprise doing exploration business they just had one mission Find the Xindi. TOS is timeless, one can watch the shows over and over again and I never get bore. So the new Star Trek films should be like TOS, it is more fun that way and fighting The Klingons and Romulans and discovering strange new worlds.
