I watched the last episode of DS9 and I was disappointed with the CGI in it. I noticed that they used scenes that were previously used. For example the battle of Cardassia was never shown and the Battles were copied from other episodes from the 6th season. Overall I think that the Battles were choppy and did not have a lot of effort put in to it. Then also I think that the producers ended the series with too little time. They had too many questions to answer and it didn't flow throughout the episode. As opposed to other series finales they actually had a storyline. This one did not. There was only one thing good about this episode. In my opinion this finale was the most emotional out of all of the others. When O'Brien, Worf and Sisko leave it was one of the saddest things.

I STRONGLY disagree. I have watched the final season twice within the last month, and the second time through, I watched the good episodes twice in succession. All three times I watched "What You Leave Behind", I was left awestruck by how completely the series was wrapped up. Dukat, Kai Winn, Rom, Quark, Worf...virtually every character and their key storylines were paid out and concluded during the course of the last three episodes. About the only character I can think of that wasn't is Morn...
As for the special effects...they really didn't need another big space battle. There was enough of that during "The Dogs of War" and dozens of other episodes during the sixth and seventh seasons. The final assault on Dominion headquarters was, in my opinion well done and did not distract from the emotion of the episode.
Even though I was rather disappointed that not one image of Jadzia was shown, I still feel this is one of the finest and most complete series finales for any television series, not just science fiction.

I think that this season finale deserved a big space battle. When there is a good series with another empire I think that there at least could have been something to really convince you that the Dominion had lost the war. Just signing a formal treaty just didn't cut it for me. I would have liked it better if it was a fight to the death type situation. Where the Dominion is crushed. I also think that putting the breen into the war was stupid and that they should have joined the federation side instead.

They did have a major battle at the end of the series. The federation went on the offensive when they developed the counter for the Breen energy dampening weapon, and it was a fairly involved battled. Granted, only bits of it were shown, but the key points were touched on (the weakness in the center of the lines, the Cardassians changing sides, etc.). And the Dominion did get crushed. They were driven all the way back to Cardassia, lost a key ally, had their headquarters taken over by rebels, and the Founders were dying as a race. What more do you want? The fact that most of the battle was left to our imagination was, in my mind, a brilliant move. Anybody with enough money can create a sweeping action scene, especially with CGI. But the nail down the individual efforts of Odo, Damar, Kira and others, and have them tie into the main battle, was a great piece of writing, directing and acting. Good science fiction is not about special effects and action, but rather the human factors that make it all work. And I think they captured that perfectly.

Remember when the Federation, Klingon, and Romulan Invasion force came to Cardassia? Do you remember all of the ships that were in orbit? Did they show one bit of that battle? they didn't. That is what got me angry. The next scene only showed Sisko, Ross and Martok drinking blood wine in the cardassian headquarters. No Space battle whatsoever. I think that they should have created a battle like in the episode "Sacrifice of Angels" from the 6th series. Instead of creating new scenes from scratch, they lazily pasted old battles in it's place. This disapointed me. Star Trek DS9 is in my opinion the best series ever made. For this I think that they should have put more time and effort into making a grand finale for the series.

*sigh* Not everything is about big space battles, especially not good science fiction, and most especially not Star Trek. What made Star Trek great over the long haul was the character development, intrigue and interplanetary politics. The occaisional space battle was a nice bonus, but not what the series was about. To have had a big special special effects extravaganza would have cheapened the whole series.

I have to agree with the opinion that I think the ending was done quite well. The ending was not supposed to be focused on the battle outside with the ships. It was meant to be focused on the characters and the individual efforts as pointed out. I think the way they wrapped up every characters story line was the best out of any other series ending episode. TNG and Voyager just seemed to have crappy endings that really were either rushed in Voyager's case or didn't really seem to be an ending at all like in TNG. The one and only thing I would like to see happen in a future endeavor would be to see Sisko come back as he is with the prophets now but if I remember right he told Cassidy that he would eventually be back and since time has no meaning for the prophets he could come back literally a minute later or 10 years later it doesn;' matter, even 100 years. I would just like to see Sisko come back in order to save the federation from some new evil or something like that. I wasn't overly happy with the way they seemed to leave him stranded as well as his family who is waiting for him to return.
