James Doohan is really going into space - and will make his journey this afternoon. His ashes and 200 other's ashes who wanted to be ejected into space will launch off in New Mexico. His wife will be pressing the button this afternoon launching him and others to the final frontier. Safe journey Scotty!

I was reading about this, and think it wonderful. I am so happy for Doohan. I relate to this story as well as I'd love for my remains to be spend in space upon my death. Mr Doohan, be sure to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new civilizations, and boldly go where no man has gone before.

They've just sent it up this minute, it'll be in orbit for 3 - 4 minutes before it seperates and it's scatters, with the nose cone returning to Earth in a nearby military plains in New Mexico.

Well, he can now explore the great unknown now. Also, didn't Gene Roddenberry have the same done after he died?

A great way to go for a guy who made the Star Trek series really good.
Yes, Gene Roddenberry's ashes did go into space too.

A rather fitting end considering what he's associated with you might say.

Hopefully no one should have the bad taste to collect up his ashes and then sell them on e-Bay.
