Okay, I had been wondering...
If all I did was see all the Star Trek films..would I be missing anything?
Or should I really see some of the series (at least the original)?

Oh I'd say you'd have to watch the series too, more so with Generations there was so much in the way of back stories.... oh what the heck, I'd say you have to watch everything from the origional show right up to the extreamly dissapointing Enterprise (yes even this sorry show has some merrit)

While the movies are good, they're more or less high budget extra long episodes, at least in my opinion. Most episodes of the series are just as good as the films, and in some cases (DS9 especially the Dominion War) there are extended story archs that make them so much more interesting.
If you liked the films, you'll like the series.

You definitely need to to be familar with the Original Series and Next Generation - they provide the bulk of the foundation for the movies. Since Rodenberry was still in control, you can skip around a bit when watching episodes - he tried to keep clear of extended story arcs. It is very tough to jump into the middle of a season of DS9 and Voyager.

So should I go chronically then? Start with the original series and go on till I reach the first film, and so on?

So should I go chronically then? Start with the original series and go on till I reach the first film, and so on? I don't think so. TOS and TNG provide most of the backstory and like I said, they did not have as many prolonged storylines. Skipping around is OK.

Ahh, okay.
Just thought I'd ask before I watch one of the movies and get all possibly confused, haha.

The best thing to do would be to watch everything Enterprise sad? Sorry? I liked Enterprise and the only thing I found sad or sorry about it is that they killed it off to early

Start with the first movie and go up in order Or start with the TOS pilot and work your way through each series. It's going to take a while to do that though

Yes, I know, haha.
I was mainly just wondering if I had to intersperse the films within the series for chronology.

You could if you wanted. The films would make more sense if you did that because you would know more of what they're talking about and feel closer to the characters
