Plot: " In the middle of the South Pacific, a thousand feet below the surface of the water, a huge vessel rests on the ocean floor. Rushed to the scene is a group of American scientists who descend to the depths of the sea to investigate this astonishing discovery. What they find defies their imaginations and mocks their attempts at logical explanation. It is a massive spaceship, undamaged from it's fall from the sky-and at least three hundred years old. What they then find boggles the mind as they discover a perfect metal sphere. What is the secret behind the sphere? Will they survive the mysterious 'manifestations'? Who or what is creating these? They may never live to find out." www.imdb.com/title/tt0120184/Has anyone else seen this movie? I thought this was really good and really suspenseful. I really got into this movie when I first saw it, and kept trying to figure out the ending, or rather kept trying to figure out exactly what would happen next. Samuel L Jackson's line: "We're all going to die down here" and his reason as to why after that was brilliant, and made perfect sense from a time travel perspective. So, what did you guys think of it?

Oh, totally!
It's a great movie and I don't think it always gets the attention it deserves.
However, I am a little negatively biased towards it because I have also read the book, lol, and it's so much better. But I know that some things just can't be portrayed on screen as easily as it can in words.
That said... it's a pretty awesome movie.

Yeah, I think it was pretty underrated myself, despite it cast of such high quality actors. In the ending, were they able to forget all about the sphere using their powers from it, thus eliminating their own powers?

They seemed genuinely confused at the end when they were being questioned about the whole experience.

I've seen this film a couple of times and really enjoyed watching it each time. What I don't understand is why the ship they enter is from the future and how it got there. Can anyone explain this or think up an explanation? The film was very unpredictable and kept me guessing of who was manifesting the dreams. A great physiological thriller and I often wonder what I would manifest if I was in the situation.

Well, the manifestations, if I understand it all right, are things the characters are most afraid of.
So whatever scares you the most, that's what you'd manifest.
As for how the ship got there... I don't know... I haven't seen the film for a while. Or read the book for that matter.

The ship logs stated the ship entered an unknown event, which turned out to be a black hole, or something like a black hole. The result was sending the ship back into the past by 300 years, or whatever it was. That is why Sam Jackson's line "we're all going to die down here" amazed me, because according to him, deductive logic dictated they would never make it to the surface. They knew the ship entered a black hole, so if they knew, yet in the future the ship didn't ultimately they would have to die before reaching the surface to tell anyone what they knew. Brilliant!

Oh, right... I remember that whole scene now... with the black hole.
I remember the looks on their faces when they found all the empty candy wrappers inside, haha...
