Now Hellraiser was a great movie. I have yet to see ROTK (yeah I know, shoot me) and I've never heard of Donnie Darko, unless it's somthing I've completly forgot about for the time being.

'Return of the King' -Lord of the Rings ~Myke Oh... LOL I see.... Hmmm... I didn´t see the last one, thank goodness but was forced to watch the first two parts. boo-hoo... *can´t find that darn "cry" smilie* boo-hoo. Hold it, hold it... I am the biggest LOTR fan that ever lived. I have the books and read them several times long before they made this film. So OK, it wasn´t a bad film but if you have read the books you will also cry when watching those guys, pretending to be hobbits. I mean, couldn´t they have used at least dwarves, like they did in "Willow", instead of using those guys who had to kneel down every time they stood next to Gandalf or another "normal" sized person, so they would look smaller. I especially didn´t like Elijah Wood... no one looked less a hobbit than he did. So... where was I... LOL Ah yes, the film... Well, I definately prefer the books and anyone who loves to read would agree with me that the film pales in comparison with the books. Sorry for the outburst... ;D

actually IMO i thought the Hobbits were played perfectly....hobbits are actually taller than dwarves....so the height stuff isnt exctly that far off or anything...and yes the books were better...but arent they always?

You should read up on your Tolkien. Tolkien describes the hobbits in the book "The Hobbit" as being "little people, about half our height and smaller than the bearded dwarves." And not only that, they do NOT look anything like humans. The only thing they have done to make those guys look like hobbits is put fur on their feet.

I thought they were taller than dwarves...hmmm..wonder who I am getting them mixed up with....and...I think they are supposed to look human though..because this is the desciption I am used to seeing about them. Hobbits are little people. They are actually smaller than Dwarves, variable between two and four feet. Since they are much smaller than the big folk, their name to the humans, they are shy from them. The Hobbits seldom wore shoes, since they had leathery soles under their feet that also had brown curling hair. Their faces were broad, bright-eyed, red-cheeked and good-natured. either way I liked the way they portrayed the hobbits in the movies...it's how i always envisioned them looking....and since tolkien never really had any official artwork or pictures of the that I know of....i guess its up to individual interpretation.

That is true... there are lots of people who like the way the hobbits have been portrayed, I just don´t like it. The closest any of them got to look like a hobbit was Sam and Bilbo - even in cartoon books the hobbits look more the way they are discribed by Tolkien than the films have depict them. There are a few drawings of hobbits in the book "TOLKIEN - The Illustrated Encyclopedia", page 156/157. But have you ever seen the cartoon version of LOTR, it is from the 70s, I believe. Now THAT is the way I can accept hobbits to look like. The film didn´t show half of the story BUT the characters were very well depict, I thought. ;D

I don´t think so.... But it does describe my feelings - especially for the Frodo guy - to perfection. ;D

LOL
I'll admit, in fear of my life, i'll admit I have never read any of Tolkien's books, so all I really have to go on is the films. I do have 'The hobbit' and I've been meaning to read that for the longest time, so see what happenes before Fellowship, but havent started it yet. Once I finsh it i'll give my thoughts in the Mindlight board.
