Anyone else seen this film?
This is good favorite of mine. Its about a character called Ben Richards who has been framed and as a criminal he is sent into a popular game show called Runner Man. Where he must try stay alive against Stalkers who are a bit like crazy gladiators.
It must be a trademark of Arnold Schwarzenegger to say, "I'll be back." He said this when he was in the transportation pod.
I wonder if we'll ever create game shows that will have criminals getting hunted down for entertainment. It made me laugh when this elderly person was asked who she thought would win and she didn't say a stalker but Ben Richards a Runner Man.
So what do you think of this film?

I haven't seen this movie since I was a kid. I remember the story plot and all, but don't remember too many other detail about it except Arnie's game show uniform. I remember it was based on a Stephen King story, and remember that I liked it. I'm going to have to watch this one again.

You'll defiantly have to watch this film again, it's a real favourite of mine. The film is set in a future and only 10 years away. I wonder if we'll ever get to a stage where we are throwing people into a game where they have to win to stay alive. What's quite disturbing though is the audience quite enjoyed it.

Steve Austin is coming out with a movie in a few months called 'The Condemned'. Apparently it is going to be like the Running Man, the only difference is some guy with power buys 12 or so of the worlds most dangerous men on Death Row and offers them a chance of freedom to win on his gameshow; which sounds like the show from The Running Man. I think I'm going to start my Netflix subscription up again, if so, The Running Man will among the first I get.

Anyone else seen this film? So what do you think of this film? If I hadn't read the book by Stephen King first, I would have loved the film. As it is, I expected to see, more or less, the same as I read in the book, which didn't happen. However, if you forget about the book, which is fantastic, this film wasn't all that bad.

Incidentally, this movie was on TV a few weeks ago, AFTER I had initially replied to this thread. It was okay this time around, but was really dated to the 80's, extremely dated.

And that's the wonderful thing about the book (or any story in book format), it's never outdated, not the way it's written. The story plays in the future, and if you ever read the book (the story can be found in a collection called The Bachman Books), you will get far more out of this than the film gave. In fact, apart from the Games building part, nothing resembled the story in the book.
