...Written by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson?
I'm working on the most recent one, "The Butlerian Jihad". I've read the other 4 also. I feel like I'm encouraging mediocre writing by purchasing them...
It's not quite the pre-history I had envisioned when reading Frank Herbert's Dune series way back when. But, I assume they're working from his notes about how the Dune universe evolved.
But the Holzmann shields have me confused. I could swear I read a Frank Herbert short story set in maybe the 21st century. A war in Antarctica. And I think the shields were introduced then.
Anyone interested in discussing the merits and flaws of the derivative works by Herbert's son and Anderson?
I read somewhere that the notes for Frank Herbert's final Dune novel had been found in a safe deposit box. I think I'd rather read the notes than someone's attempt to novelize them.
