Is Welsh a language very different from English? This is its alphabet (UPPERCASE,lowercase): A,a B,b C,c Ch,ch D,d Dd,dd E,e F,f Ff,ff G,g Ng,ng H,h I,i J,j L,l Ll,ll M,m N,n O,o P,p Ph,ph R,r Rh,rh S,s T,t Th,th U,u W,w Y,y That's one difference. For example, when pronouncing the double-L sound, to do so: - First, pass air on both sides of your tongue, do this for about 2 seconds
- Then, immediately afterwards, make a "luh" sound
In words like "Llewellyn", you say the second "ll" as you word a single "L". This is easier to explain in audio form of course. Plus: - You pronounce the letter U like an I (ih) as in "listen"
- The Welsh vowels are A,E,I,O,U,W,Y
- You prounouce the letters, Th and Ph as you would in English
- With the letter Ng, the G part is silent and you stress the N
- The letter Dd sounds the same as the letter Th
- When pronouncing the letter Ch, you make a glutteral sound (it's easier to explain via audio) and then the sound of whatever letter succeeds, usually a vowel, try the word "Chwech" (six in Welsh) as an example
- You pronouce the W "ooh"
- The Y is pronouced "ih", like the U (so, Wy, which means egg, is pronounced "ooh-ih")
- With Rh, the H is silent and you stress the R
- With Welsh, you'll find that nearly all words are pronounced as they're spelled and vice-versa
So, if you're learning Welsh, those are a few handy tips to remember. Phew!

Because of the system It's so last century We study the same stuff people used to study 100 years ago I think we should be allowed to choose to study only those subjects which we'll use in our future careers.
