Honestly, this game has to be the best game ever. Sure, it wasn't the most graphical. Sure, it wasn't made on Xbox or PS2. But the gameplay is just so much fun, and no matter how much you play, it never gets bad. I have played this game sicne I was 5, and I have loved and loved and LOVED it. My brother and I would spend HOURS ON END racing two-player grand prix on 150cc engines, it was unreal. And then we unlocked the backwards tracks...
AND IT JUST GOT BETTER AND BETTER.
This game, out of ALL seriousness, is the greatest game of all time. Sure, you can say Halo 2 is, but I tell you know, fantastic graphics DO NOT make boring and repedative gameplay game the greatest game ever.

I used to spend hours playing Mario Kart with friends, we would really get into it too, making stragities and stuff.
I also loved Twisted Metal and Twisted Metal 2 for Playstation 1.
Saddley some of my favorite games were on N64 and PS1, I have neither system now, now do I have any of the old games I used to love.

I only played it a few times. It was my son´s game and he insisted I should give it a try. LOL Sweet game but I prefer Super Mario Bros and my absolute favourite is Yoshi´s Island... awwww.

I agree, Mario Kart 64 was awesome, even better than the one on the Nintendo Gamecube. I still preferred Super Mario 64 or Mario Kart, but both were great games.

I too had this game for the Nintendo 64 and it was my favorite game for the N64.
I really liked the choice of characters that you could play. My character I always played as was Bowser i just thought he looked great. Bowser was the character with the horns and spikey shell.
Another great part of the game was the battle mode. This was where you had a choice of four arenas and threw bombs and other weapons at each other. Would of been nice to have a few more arenas though.

I grew up playing Mario Kart 64 for many years! Still the same ol' all time greatest N64 game, next to Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, WCW/nWo Revenge, WWF No Mercy, Super Mario 64, Diddy Kong Racing, Mario Party, and Goldeneye.
I had so much fun playing Mario Kart 64 with my oldest brother and friends, and I used to do shortcuts on Rainbow Road and Toad's Turnpike.

Mario Kart DS is an absolutely amazing game, in multiplayer. I spent countless hours racing around the tracks on that game, when over at friends' houses. My favorite tracks have to be Rainbow Road, Royal Raceway, and Wario Stadium. For the latter, I love the sneak trick of using a lightning bolt just as your competition is about to make the big jump towards the end.
