I had some early video game memories back in my childhood days of the 1990's, starting with Sonic the Hedgehog. I have been into playing Sonic the Hedgehog games since the beginning, because Sonic 1 for the Sega Genesis/MegaDrive was the game that brought me into video games way back in September 1991 where I got addicted to it for many hours.
One year later, I had a lot of hype on looking foward to Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for the Sega Genesis, so when that game later came out on November 1992, my brother immediately bought it, and I played it on my old Sega Genesis right away. This was the first Sonic with the debut of Miles "Tails" Prower, and 2 Player mode for seeing which player beats the levels first and who has the most rings at the end of a Special Stage before the overall winner is determined. Sonic 2 was better than the first one because I can now do a Spin Dash to get moving faster, and getting 50+ rings to transform into Super Sonic after getting all 7 Chaos Emeralds.
In 1993 when video game magazines were showing previews of Sonic the Hedgehog 3, I started playing a Genesis game called Sonic Spinball, which adds pinball to the mix with 4 huge levels that take pretty long to beat after collecting all Chaos Emeralds and defeating its bosses. This game was alright, and that one time I beat the first 3 levels without losing a life too.
In February 1994, I started playing Sonic 3 on the Genesis after so much hype, and this became my favorite Sonic the Hedgehog game ever until on December 25, 1994, I opened one of my Christmas presents with a Sonic & Knuckles game on it and now I can insert the Sonic 3 cartridge on top of it to play Sonic 3 & Knuckles that combined the two games together, hey I can also insert Sonic 2 on top of the Sonic & Knuckles cartridge so I can play as Knuckles in the Sonic 2 levels as well. If I inserted Sonic Spinball, Sonic 1, or any other Sega Genesis cartridge on top of the Sonic & Knuckles cartridge, I get a No Way screen but I can press A, B, and C together to play some random Special Stages. I'm talking about how much a Sonic & Knuckles cartridge can do. Sonic 3 was the game with the new game save feature, but doing the level select code on the Sega screen with Sonic on it is too hard. Sonic & Knuckles is just the 2nd part of Sonic 3.
In 1995, most of my Sonic games were stolen by a female stranger that I shouldn't be mentioning her name here, because back then she insulted me so much at school by calling me a Cry Baby and demanded me to give her my Sonic games or else I would get my feelings hurt a lot more.
In 1996 and 1997, I played both Sega Genesis and Saturn versions of Sonic 3D Blast, it wasn't as good as the older Sonic games though because I can only play as Sonic in that game and the Special Stages are little too easy. This was during the Sega Channel days.
In 2002, I went on to play Sonic Adventure on the Sega Dreamcast, however I didn't get too far in the game because I felt disappointed about why my Dreamcast can't play import games and then I sold that system to an old friend in 2003.
In February 2003, I got Sonic Mega Collection for the Gamecube, because I missed the old Sonic games so much and I gotta relive those memories. I was the one who translated cheat codes of unlocking Comix Zone and The Ooze hidden games from the Japanese Sonic Mega Collection game to English straight from the Sonic Team website in Japanese before submitting them to GameFAQS.
I have also played Sonic Pinball Party on GBA later in September 2003.
Later in January 2006, I finally got to play a Gamecube game called Sonic Adventure DX, a remake of a classic Dreamcast game but this time I beaten this game with all 6 Characters and endings. Some differences, faster load times, and collecting more Emblems to unlock Sonic Game Gear games to play for fun. I can still take good care of my Chao pets in 3 different Chao Gardens like in the original Sonic Adventure.
End of story. This was about how much I loved playing Sonic the Hedgehog games on various systems so much since the beginning, longer than teenagers who play video games these days. Yes I haven't played some of the other Sonic games in the series yet, but who knows if I'll ever get Sonic Gems Collection or Sonic Adventure 2 Battle someday.
