I have recently managed to complete both Enter the Matrix and Path of Neo so now I can give a compared review of both of them.
The first one I played was PON, so I had a really good impression on it: great graphics, plus you get to play with Neo and be the One. But I had a really hard time with the controls, you need to push way too many buttons in order to be able to make a stand during the battles, which is definitely not an advantage if you're not a good gamer. But in the end you get used to it. One other thing I hated: the cut-scenes, because some of them were far too long, and if it was your first time playing a level, there was no way you could skip them, you just had to wait for them to play. I think the last one was around 15-20 minutes long.
Then I played ETM. The first impression was not too good, seing how simplistic and primitive the graphics looked compared to PON. But while the game advanced, I realized it is at least 20 times better. First reason: it actually has a story, advancing through all those levels has a sense, a purpose, unlike PON where you just recreate some scenes from the movie and play some liniar missions. The cut-scenes also serve a better purpose, adding to the story, linking the levels, not just a collage of random scenes from the movies. And if you don't want to see them you can actually skip them. I liked the fact that the tips came up as a separate menu, instead of just barging in the middle of a scene, ruining the entire concentration. Plus the game was more adrenalin packed, specially towards the end.
Has anyone played any of the games, any thoughts?
