At the very bottom of the main page it says: To affiliate with us, please click here. When you click "Here", you will get to the affiliation thread, which is in the Welcome Board. That's where you add your link in a post. It's closed at the moment since the admin doesn't have the time right now to add new affiliates. But keep an eye on that thread.

Is it against the rules to write additonal 'posts' i.e. comments particularly on some 'very old threads' not allowed or against the rules of this forum?

People do not like me to make further comments on 'month old threads' - I was wondering is there some kind of forum rule in this regard.

Not a forum rule per se. It's more a guideline and etiquette issue that fairly universal to all forums, not just TR. Let me see if I can explain why.
When would it make better sense to start a new thread? The only way to answer this is to look at the circumstances case by case. If the comment will amplify or improve on the existing thread, sure, bump it. If the comment is on the same large topic but not germaine to the earlier thread discussion, maybe it would be better to start a new thread.
Here's an example, though possibly not a very good one. Someone starts a thread in the Fantasy section called "Galadriel ROX". And the thread is for the most part about Galadriel and maybe Arwen since they are in some ways opposites in the story.
Later on, I want to start a discussion about the relative merits of Goldberry and the Entwives.
Should I add my comment to the Galadriel ROX thread? After all, I'm talking about the women of LOTR, right?
Wrong. My comments about Goldberry and the Entwives would have nothing to do with a Galadriel praise thread or a Galadriel versus Arwen smackdown. The topic is different enough that I should start a new thread. Otherwise I hijack or derail a thread dedicated to Elf women, and Galadriel in particular
So...my advice to anyone thinking about adding to an old thread is to do more than just read the opening post. It's important to see how the conversation evolved. And if the topic you want to discuss is not pretty much on target for the existing thread, then start a new thread.
