Which one of these movies are your favorite? And why? Edit: You may notice this poll does not include Episode III. This poll was made over a year before Episode III was released, and we have no way to edit polls. So, if episode III is your favorite movie, just state so.

I like "Empire" the best because it's such a downer. Luke finds out Vader's his father. Han is betrayed by his friend Lando, and Leia watches the man she loves get frozen in carbonite! Plus there were a ton of other crappy things that happened. This movie is great because it's one of the few movies where the good guys don't win. They just have to suck it up and wait till "Jedi."

I too picked Empire Strikes Back, for the reasons Speed did. That movie is exactly what the title says, The Empire Strikes Back, and boy do they. The rebellion is basically masacred in this film, while the Empire gains an extreme advatnage in the war.
Luke Skywalker has excellent character development, he is no longer that young boy of Tatooine, but now seems more mature, and is on his way to becomming a Jedi, if not a Sith first. WE find out Vader is his father, which is probably one of the most outstanding moments in any films history. HE looses his fight with Vader, his hand, and is overwhelmed with the news Vader gave him.
Han solo of course is betrayed by Lando, falls victem to the Empire, frozen in CArbonite, and is turned over to boba Fett & Jabba the Hut.
I love the waythe movie ends, the scattered Rebel fleet on the outskirts of the galaxy, seemingly hiding from the Empire, with sadness in everyone's face, promising to make the wrong things right.
Empire, is a very dark movie, with alot of action and emotion. I do feel it is the best Star Wars movie to date.
It is interesting to note the similarities in the Star Wars movies, episode IV ended in happiness, as did Episode 1, with both groups of good guys celebrating. Episode V anded on a dark note, as did episode II, with the conspiracy still in effect, the showing of the grand army of Storm Troopers and Star Destroyers (which we all know becomes the Empire, not to mention Darth Vader's music) and Aninkin defying the Jedi order by marrying Padme.
However, I do not think this trend will continue, as Return of th Jedi ends on a great note, but Episode III cant possably, as Ankikin has to become Vader, the Jedi has to be destroyed, the Old Republic has to fall, Padme has to die, ect.

It used to be Return of the Jedi for years but growing older, i realised how much more to Empire there really was. I like this film because it is so much darker. Alot of the film can be contributed to Ivan krishner, the director, however mr Lucas should not be totally dis-acknoledged as he still had a great deal to do with the film. One of the key aspects was the character development and the relationships between the characters, mainly Luke and Yoda, Han & Leia and Luke/Darth Vader. Nad the reasons already mentioned! One of my favourite bits is the initial meeting with Yoda and Luke and their talks in Yoda's home. Even though ther;es still the hotheadedness in Luke i think during the talk Luke (characrter wise) is at his strongest. John Williams agains provides an epic soundtrack and the combination of character relationships, plot development and more class battles provides for a truely faultless sci-fi film. There's so much i could say about this fillm, i could fill a whole page with my insights into the film but why bore you! Watch it! Then watch it again and again and again, and just when you've had enough... watch it one more time!

I would definitely have to go with empire too. and for most of the reasons already stated. I think the character development is great....and the feeling of the movie gets darker and more foreboding with the empire winning at every turn. really left u wondering what could possibly happen next...what could they do to get out of their predicament.

Weeeeell... I choose "Episode IV, A New Hope". I have been a big fan of the trilogy ever since it came out and have watched them umpteen times on my videos but for me, it´s the first film that is the best. It´s the funniest film, everyone is still alive and everything is still new and fresh - if you know what I mean. It´s like when I read LOTR and I come to the end of the story, a rather sad ending, I can´t wait to start reading the book again from the beginning, when everyone was still alive and there was still so much fun and joy and hope on the way... And that´s how I feel about the Star Wars trilogy. I mean, Obi Wan gets killed in the second film and Yoda dies too - that is so depressing...

Actually Obi-Wan died in "A New Hope" Part IV, then Yoda died in "The Return of the Jedi" part VI

Actually Obi-Wan died in "A New Hope" Part IV, then Yoda died in "The Return of the Jedi" part VI Yes sorry, of course Obi Wan gets killed in the first film *what was I thinking* (but I did forget Yoda died in the third one). Anyway, what I am saying is that Obi Wan is still seen in most of the first film whereas he is only appearing in the second film to give advice to Luke and talk to Yoda... *Shows you that it´s been a while since I have actually seen the films* LOL

Obi-Wan dying wasnt such a bad thing I don't think. Remember, he told Vader "If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful then you can imagine" and then proceeded to let Darth Vader kill him. I believe he let Vader kill him, so he could help Luke more then he could if he were still alive, alive as we know it. For instance, on Hoth,in Empire Strikes Back, Obi-Wan was there, kind of spiritually guiding Luke when he was on the edge of death, something he could not have done if he were still in physical form.
He may have done it to be closer to Luke spiratually, given what happened to his former padawon, Anikin Skywalker.
Something I thought was funny, on Corricaunt, inAttack of the Clones, Obi-Wan told Anikin when they tracked the sniper in the bar "Wh do I have the feeling you'll be the death of me" LOL.

It´s just that I enjoyed having Obi Wan around, walking, talking and just "being there", if you know what I mean. I just enjoyed seeing the character, so when he died, to me it was a great loss because we only saw him a couple of times more and only briefly (if I remember correctly). LOL Same with Yoda, it´s not the "dying" that worried me but the fact that he was no longer there, making his speeches in his funny ways... that´s all.
