Zeppelin is the greatest rock band. On that note, which would win, fork, knife, or spoon?

I too picked Empire Strikes Back, for the reasons Speed did. That movie is exactly what the title says, The Empire Strikes Back, and boy do they. The rebellion is basically masacred in this film, while the Empire gains an extreme advatnage in the war. Luke Skywalker has excellent character development, he is no longer that young boy of Tatooine, but now seems more mature, and is on his way to becomming a Jedi, if not a Sith first. WE find out Vader is his father, which is probably one of the most outstanding moments in any films history. HE looses his fight with Vader, his hand, and is overwhelmed with the news Vader gave him. Han solo of course is betrayed by Lando, falls victem to the Empire, frozen in CArbonite, and is turned over to boba Fett & Jabba the Hut. I love the waythe movie ends, the scattered Rebel fleet on the outskirts of the galaxy, seemingly hiding from the Empire, with sadness in everyone's face, promising to make the wrong things right. Empire, is a very dark movie, with alot of action and emotion. I do feel it is the best Star Wars movie to date. It is interesting to note the similarities in the Star Wars movies, episode IV ended in happiness, as did Episode 1, with both groups of good guys celebrating. Episode V anded on a dark note, as did episode II, with the conspiracy still in effect, the showing of the grand army of Storm Troopers and Star Destroyers (which we all know becomes the Empire, not to mention Darth Vader's music) and Aninkin defying the Jedi order by marrying Padme. However, I do not think this trend will continue, as Return of th Jedi ends on a great note, but Episode III cant possably, as Ankikin has to become Vader, the Jedi has to be destroyed, the Old Republic has to fall, Padme has to die, ect. ~Myke I also picked Empire Stikes Back, again for all of the same reasons as Speed and Kamel listed. Do I have to list them again?

I'd probably say Empire Strikes Back..it is the most dramatic and contains the famous words 'I am your father'
I just love it.

It was certainly a refreshing change to see a rather ambigious ending in a film such as one of the the Star Wars films.
The film ends with Luke and Leia watching from the Medical Frigate over the rest of the Rebel fleet re-grouping, and licking thier wounds after heavy losses at the evacuation of Echo Base on Hoth.
On the subject of the evacuation, I thought the entire sequence of the battle, the evacuation, along with Leia and Han getting in a twist. There was so much happening, but it was beautifully filmed. It's still one of the most stunning action sequences in history in my eyes. The entrance of Vader too (similar to the one when he boards the Rebel ship, the Tantive V (I think) over Tattooine) was brilliant, accompanied by his famous music.
Anyway, back to the ending. It was a curious ending in the way that it makes me wonder 'what are they planning? What does Luke mean by the "rendez-vous point"? It's a bit like the ending for Episode II, in which the ending is not really an ending, but the beginning of greater events about to unfold. The transition from V to VI was done in a way that the climax to the trilogy was built up from the second film, and it was very fitting.

The Empire strikes back was the best Star Wars film, followed by Return of the Jedi. It just has everything you would want in a Star Wars movie, action, romance, cliffhangers..It is extremely enjoyable to watch. Plus you also see luke becoming a Jedi, which I find very interesting.

Star Wars Episode I The Phantom Menace, is probably my favorite. I found it hard to get into the old ones... I love Jar Jar!

The good thing about Episode 1 Musicbunny, isthat it expalins alot of the politics that make the old trilogy possible, with the way it shows the start of the end for the Republic, and how Palpatine (The Emporer) came into power and all.

Well I think Jar Jar was problably the most annoying thing about The Phantom Menace. Some things I could stomach, mainly because of the links with the original trilogy as xkamelx stated; but Jar Jar was unnessecary and in my opinion a great way to lower the age of the audience of the film. Making it appeal to kids dilutes the great Star Wars feeling, or rather gets rid of it completely.

My fav is the Return of the jedi because you get to see more of the rebels fighters and the awsome effects made when the death star destroys the rebel freghter. Really good effects for that time. :DAlso there are not many bad parts in it for example in the Empire strikes back there is basicly only one war in the hoth system. and the rest is just talking and lightsaber fights.

Good points about Jarhead, but don't you think Lucas is still living in the seventies when he made this and was aiming it at the younger generation ?? Just my impression of the film.

If he was aiming at the younger generation, which it seems he was, then it dilutes the whole experience. The original trilogy was groundbreaking and instantly became a success because it was years ahead of its time. The current trilogy doesn't have that edge that would make it stand the test of time. I think in years to come the original trilogy will be remembered for changing the face of mainstream sci-fi forever, while the current trilogy will be remembered for being a set of three generic sci-fi films with nice special effects (special effects that will be bettered in the future anyway), so there is little chance of it standing the test of time in the way that the original trilogy would. The original trilogy is timeless.

I agree Dillson.
The new generation of Star Wars fans loved the originals, for the most part, and the orignals wasn't exatly targeting kids, so there was no reason to target the new ones at kids. Kids are going to watch anyways, and they would have liked it anyways. If anything, the kiddie things like Jar Jar alienated long time fans of the originals like myself.
I was only 4 or 5 when I feel in love with the original trilogy, and it wasn't aimed at kids. The same could have held true today if the new movies were targeted towards an older audience.

I was only 4 or 5 when I feel in love with the original trilogy And now as you have aged, your opinions of the film have matured, as have all of ours. Too much expectation was built into the new films being made as everybody wanted that something special again back to when they were a child.
