I would love it. As long as it doesn't destroy the entire series. That's the problem. How can you do movies based on 25 yrs after Jedi and not have anything to tie into it? There would have to be lots of creative ingenuity to pull it off, considering Lucas said books are cannon.

It'd be cool if Lucas did do seven, eight and nine but I doubt it.
The Thrawn books will do just fine for me...
(In case you don't know, the Thrawn series is three books writen by Timothy Zahn the serves as movies seven, eight and nine. And there really cool.)

Well, I adore Lucas and everything, but after I, II, and III...
They, well, they dissapointed me...
And I don't think that if he makes a seven, eight , and nine, that they will be any better than I, II, and III.
Oh, and has anyone heard of Supershadow? I read of his site, SuperShadow.com, that Lucas has given him permission to produce 7, 8, and 9...

And they were also the first Lucas endorsed books based on Star Wars as well. In factthey were supposedly supposed to be made into movies as well as 7-9 originally, but then Lucas went the prequal route instead and said he may someday make those books into movies. Of all the books based on Star Wars, those 3 would be the perfect books to be made into movies, just unfortunately, so much time has passed, the actors/actresses who played the primary characters in the original trilogy, are now to old to play the same characters in 7-9. When the books first came out, they were not that old, and could have played the characters again.

I, for one, would love to see more done with the StarWars universe, though I don't think it's necessary to have it have anything to do with the Skywalkers. There are thousands of worlds and billions of "people" inhabitting that universe and, I'm sure, a lot of them could have stories that are just as interesting, if not more so. It's already been proven that Luke and Leia don't have to be involved for the story to work (Kyle Katarn, anyone? How about Mara Jade? The Droids cartoon only had Artoo and Threepio and they weren't bad). I, also, heard rumors about the Yoda-based pre-prequal and, if it happens, I'll definitely add that DVD to my collection, as well. As for the TV series - why not?

But to get to some of those characters you need the skywalkers. Mara Jade would not have been found if not for Luke.

Probably the same way you got into any hobby you may be into. It was fun and you wanted to find others who liked the same thing. I grew up on the original trilogy. Saw Empire on opening day same with Jedi. Had a majority of the toys. In other words I became a fan as a kid.

I think that if there were an Ep 7, they would most definitely need to have someone else direct it. I mean, of the 6 movies thus far, which one is the favorite of the most people? That's right, Empire, also known as "The one where Lucas decided it was best he not direct." This argues strongly the point that a large portion of film critics have: A writer should not direct his own movie, because, while it makes it more likely to preserve the writer's original vision, it leaves open the possibility of having a very skewed ethic to wards scenes and characters, what with everything being so personal. Also, and much more pertinently, it makes for creative inbreeding. What I mean by that is, when you have a writer/director team, or at least when the two are different, you get a more robust film. This principle is seen in nature: the more varied and robust a species, the more likely it is to survive.
*looks up at what he's written so far* Wow....ramble ramble ramble...crazy things happen when you're deprived of sleep. I think I'm going to leave that semi-conscious rant intact so that its silliness may be enjoyed for generations to come.

Oh, and also, they should go back to models, because the first three looked more believable.
