Thinking over ESB, an interesting thought came. In the movie, when the Falcon's hyperdrive fails, they make for Bespin, from Hoth. I looked it up in the databank on the SW website, and it says that the planets are in different systems...I'm just curious, anyone have any data relating
a) a rough guess of the distance between the systems
b) how long it might have taken them without hyperdrive?
Evidently it was long enough for Vader to arrive and make detailed arrangements to hide himself in Cloud City and negotiate with Calrissian. I'm curious, though, if there's ever been any indication of just how long it was. Even the ESB book based on the screenplay draft didn't give any insight that I recall.

That is a good question. I'll look into it.

Well, I found a site that had a picture of the SW universe, and here's the link. gashjiren.homestead.com/files/galmap.htmlBespin and Hoth are next to eachother in the bottom left hand corner area. I don't know exactly how far apart the systems are, but they're close enough. And sadly, I don't know exactly how fast the ships travel at whatever one calls it in real space. So I can't tell you exactly how long it would take. Maybe hours, Maybe days. Often with movies, they cut out all the down time and this would most certainly be one of those times if it takes them days. Hope that helped ya.

Hmm...this map doesn't exactly hold up to scrutiny, unfortunately. Koornacht isn't that close to Coruscant, as I recall it was not an inner-core system. Bastion was a Core world, as I recall. Hmm...I think the days one seems reasonable, as it would give the above instances I mentioned adquate time. But thank you for looking it up.

Too bad this isn't Star Trek. I'd know the answer to this if it were Trek, but i'm not familiar with the technicals of Star Wars.
I do know that Hyper Speed is many, many, many times the speed of light, as The milinium Falcon can travel across the galaxy in a day as where Star Trek fastest Federation ship could not cross the galaxy in less then 75 or 80 years.
