I can see how some of you can think they're annoying... and hate them to death... And I can see how some of you think they're lovable...
And I know that the only reason they're there is because Lucas's original idea wouldn't work in the time he had. (Endor was originally going to be the home of the Wookiees, so ROTJ was originally gonna have a lot of Wookiees in it).
However... I do think they play an important part in the film and in galactic history. Without them, the Rebels may have never gotten the shield down. The navy battle probably would have been won handily by the Imperials, eventually, when the Emperor got sick of them being playthings for his mental torture of Luke.
So no matter what your feelings are, they played an important part. Does it really matter what something looks or acts like, as long as they make a difference and help out others?

i dont mean to offend anyone with this poll (and im not sure how i could..) but i really wanted to talk about the ewoks and their unforgivable antics in rotj... i personaly hate them with all my heart and soul, and consiquently hate rotj just because of them. how in the world lucas can justify over sized teddy bears beating the crap out of imperial stormtroopers is beyond me... please share your thoughts Ewoks are amazing. ;D

I like the ewoks too. I mean it could be worse, *cough*Gungans*cough* Excuse me! I think if it had been wookies - it would have been a lot more violent and bloody battle, technically anyway - not that Lucas would show that.

All I have to say about the Ewoks is this: you put on a bike helmet, and I'll get my 6 year old cousin to bash you on the head with a large rock tied to a stick. We'll see who comes off better.
When I first watched Star Wars I was really young, and since the movies were made mostly for kids, the ewoks didn't bother me at all. I didn't even think of them as stupid, i thought they fitted perfectly. Now I'm more grown up I understand why some people might say they're ridiculous, but come on, if a thousand 4-foot teddy bears started chasing me with rocks and logs, I'd run away. Even if I did have a blaster. Anyway, I prefer that the ewoks helped the rebels instead of them doing another stupid out-manned, out-gunned, out-done yet still manage to kill the army that's thirty times bigger than them simply by dodging lots of bullets and doing stupid barrel rolls and crap. It was a fair fight with the ewoks.

Yeah... that's a good point. I think it makes them a bit more human, that the rebels needed help from another tribe of beings.
Also... it brings home more the fact that EVERYONE in the galaxy wanted away from the oppression of the Empire. Not just a few humans with spaceships.

You know, i never even thought of it like that. Because it's really only the rebels you see fighting (in the origional) I thought it was just the rebels fighting. But then you learn about the Wookies and all that and well yeah it makes more sense

Yeah, it does.
Especially without the SE's where they add in more victory celebrations.

I didn't read any of this thread, nor did I vote. There's a reason for that if you give me a minute to explain When I first got introduced to message boards I found a neat place that doesn't exist anymore. It was a cool Star Trek vs. Star Wars message board I was really new to message boards and Webmaster there was really helpful in helping me get TCT off the ground. I'm rambling a bit The point here is that those Ewoks were tough little guys and won me more debates about how tough Storm Troopers were! The big joke was that little "Teddy Bears" beat up an entire squadron of highly trained Storm Troopers Jokes were made about "The Attack of the Teddies" or "Your kids toys can beat up a Storm Trooper!" Point was that those little guys were tough and won me a debate or two I love those little guys!

Oh yeah, ewoks own the ST. The stoopid ST's can't even hit a stationary target, poor shots! Ewoks on the otherhand hold a rope between two trees and cause one ST to garrot himself brutally when he comes flying along on his speeder (love that part)

The Ewoks. I thought they were cool when I was a kid, but now their involvement in the Empire's defeat seems a bit far-fetched. I feel the Empire should have squashed them with their superior technology. Of course, I understand what Lucas was trying to do: Show that Nature can triumph over technology. Still, I just don't think a rag-tag group of rebels and a bunch of walking teddy bears could defeat a force like the Empire. Although, it doesn't really matter what I think, since we all know the Ewoks defeated them anyways.

I'll have to agree with you on that note, Speed. As I've gotten older the ewoks do kinda seem dumb. I mean, sure getting hit in the head with rocks would hurt, but there's one scene where the ewoks ambush from behind a bunch of stormtroopers making refuge behind a log, when they swing their sticks it does look kinda unconvincing. And the whole prospect of being beaten up by a friggin teddy bear, rocks or not. I can't imagine myself getting clobbered by them. But then, the whole catapults and ropes between trees works. That I'm down with. I still think the ewoks are suited, but at this age they kinda do seem dumb. Meh.
