I looked and didn't see any topics like this....
This is a place where we can discuss anything related to the EU of Star Wars (if it gets enough use maybe we can divide up into novels, graphic novels, video games, etc.) but for now this will do.
I am by no means an expert, though I have read probably 90% or more of the adult EU novels (haven't read the young adult/Scholastic ones at all) and I haven't really gotten into the graphic novels yet.

Admittedly, I have never dove into the EU books and such, but have read up on a lot of the EU events from SW.com and various other websites. So I'm far from an expert myself.

Haha... I didn't know there were books for a while, I got into them late, you might say. I also read up on a few characters, without realizing it, on the official site's databank. I had seen an image of a character (Mara Jade Skywalker) and I was confused, thought maybe she was some lost relative or something... but then I read on and figured out differently. I saw a few in the library, read them... then realized I was right in the middle, lol.. so then I went back and started at the beginning. Now, I'm finally all caught up. I take my SN from my favorite EU character.

I've read alot of the books.
Some of them get interesting, especially the ones after episode VI, the ones based on the clone wars aren't so good.

If I'm ever able to sit down and read a few books, it will definitely be the ones after Episode VI.

Yeah, I agree.. most of the Clone Wars era novels aren't as interesting... Or maybe I just prefer the post-Empire characters more, lol.
I find Anakin Skywalker to be annoying in the novels.

The reason why I first started reading some of the novels was the find out what happened to a lot of the characters at the end of Return of The Jedi - you see it was a happy ending and all that, but it was a new beginning, I wanted to find out what happened between Leia and Han, what Luke was going to do now that he was finally a Jedi Knight and how the fall of the Emperor would affect the Empire and the galaxy, etc etc. As novel readers will appreciate, there is a lot that happens in a galaxy far, far away post Endor.
The New Republic novels introduced me to the Expanded Universe so I may be biased, but I agree with everyone else; the Clone Wars materials just isn't as good.

Yeah. I mean, they have their points.. but I'm just not a big Anakin Skywalker fan. Yeah, the New Republic and beyond has some annoying characters, but Anakin Skywalker takes the cake. I think he's more annoying on paper than on screen. I started reading the novels on accident, actually.. Saw the Thrawn trilogy and picked them up.

I didn't think Anakin was too bad in the novels, or at least I wouldn't find him annoying in the same way that I find the film Anakin annoying. Both as a child and a young man, Anakin's character suffered from poor acting. Such a central character needs a stronger actor(s).
In the books Anakin is an annoying character in different ways, but at least I can sort of forgive those.

Well, I might be able to forgive some things, but at times, he seems quite.. I dunno.. whiny? in the novels.

I don't really know why I can kind of forgive the novel Anakin for the way that he is. To be honest I don't think he's meant to be much of a likeable character anyway ... I mean the idea is that he's a naturally gifted person with a fatal flaw, like many heroes written about in the past. Some you can sympathise with, some you can't. In the films, I think it's the fact I can see his little annoying, arrogant face which I direct my anger it.

Well, I've been into the Legacy of the Force novel series (not the comic ones) and so far, I have to admit they're good. Better than the Dark Nest trilogy, at least.
And, although some parts of these Legacy books are making me angry, I suppose it's good. A book is so good it makes me emotional.
I can't wait to see how the last three books turn out.
