These are my favourite charactors in the show. I especially liked the episode near the end of the first series when the earthlings are called Terrorists by the Jenni. That was funny. But I suppose its true. It wasn't our Galaxy. What right did we have to go traipsing into it and awakening an ancient evil before it was even ready to farm the galaxy? But how were we to know? Is ignorance an appropriate excuse for incompetence do you think? In this 'enlightened' age? I'm sure it is but if others see a mistake being made then they are obliged to point it out. The different viewpoints of the military, military police and security, scientists and locals is what entertains me about this show. The Wraith are just like us. All they want is a good job and a family. At the expense of everyone else in the universe. No different to the Daleks of Dr Who really. It's all territorial and resource oriented. The universe may be big but survival itself is a numbers game. Technology may be important but the bigger tribe generally wins in the longterm. For the Jenni, last remnant in the Pegasus Galaxy of the great explorers who preceded them, it's a slow and pointless resistance against a foe that crushed them long ago. Each Wraith Fest scours the Galaxy of life. Leaving only traces. Each world rebuilds from scratch and only the cunning Jenni maintain any serious technology. The idea of humanity going into space seriously and attempting to colonise it terrifies me but not trying terrifies me even more. Excuse me but sometimes I allow reality to converge with scifi in my head. I'm not a big fan of NASA's big fireworks approach to conquering the universe but I do try to keep up with developments in spaceflight tech. I suppose it would be better for humanity to go to the stars than for the competition to be coming here first. Larger civilisations naturally suppress and absorb smaller ones. That's what history has taught us at any rate. I'm going to stop rambling now. I'll just add some free pics I searched out. Is it me or do the Wraith seem to resemble Marilyn Manson? I don't think the Jenni are evil or bad. They are just people and Mr Homo Sapien will do whatever it takes to survive. (edited to correct title -- Oblivion)

LOL....the first thing I thought of when I saw the wraith was that they looked just like Marilyn Manson...I kinda thought that was cool....as for being considered terrorists....I would have to disagree....there is a difference between being explorers and accidentally waking something up that shouldn't be....and intentionally harming someone like terrorists do....like the genii have never made a mistake before.....i doubt that.

Genii is it! That's why I couldn't search out any good free pics. Might have better luck this time.
I'm sure the Genii have made plenty of mistakes and paid for them. From their perspective the earthlings were terrorists and from the earthling perspective the Genii are terrorists. Perhaps they are both right. Nobody ever considers themselves a terrorist. It's always the other side that's bad.
Since this is the Pegasus Galaxy we are talking about I tend to side with the locals. They may have made mistakes but the earthlings just caused the massacre of every human society in that galaxy. Oops!
Explorers can't plead ignorance as an excuse for their crimes. It doesn't work in the court room here on earth for any other crime although it might get you a reduced sentence.
How would you feel if humans from another Galaxy came here, discovered our greatest lost technology and claimed it for themselves then woke up some human eating aliens and tried to run back home leaving us to our fate. I wouldn't be sending them any xmas cards.

well, they didnt just run home, i mean they brought all the Genii that didnt get taken back to ATlantis Base and then they launched a rescue operation for the other ones, only one Genii and Major Sumter actually died from that attack.

I think the paranoia and suspicion of the Genii were really an interesting plot device, especially in the first episode they were featured in. "Coup d'Etat" I think. Bad things happen between nations as a result of paranoia and suspicion. And that's sure the case between the Genii and the Atlantis settlers/explorers. From the Genii's perspective that first encounter was disastrous and humiliating. Not something they're used to.
Colm Meany was fantastic casting too!

...the first episode they were featured in. "Coup d'Etat" I think. Actually, that would be "Underground". "Coup D'etat" hasn't aired yet.

Was Underground where they appeared to be a bit on the Amish side until the caverns were discovered?
