Has anyone else seen the previews on the Sci-Fi channel for Stargate Atlantis?

I'm not sure yet, but it's a spin off from Stargate SG1. They play the commercials for it during SG1. We see ourselves moving along the ocean floor, and the text says "This summer, mankinds' ultimate discovery" or something like that, then we see a stargate sitting on the ocean floor, with the title Stargate Atlanitis on the screen.
That's all they show, so apperantly it's about a 3rd stargate they find. Beyond that, I have no idea.

Wow... that sounds great. So there will be a new Stargate programme, playing obviously underwater and, I gather with a different group of people.... Hmmm... sounds interesting. Haven´t seen anything yet about it but that doesn´t mean it hasn´t been advertised. Thanks for the info Myke.

Sorry for bumping a month-old thread, but I just joined and I wanted to add some info. First off, you can visit MGM's official Atlantis site here: www.stargateatlantis.com; and Sci-Fi's official Atlantis site here: www.scifi.com/atlantis. Also, there is a good unofficial Atlantis site here: www.chevronnine.com. Also, www.gateworld.com is a great source for general Stargate news. There will be some familiar characters. Daniel Jackson and Colonel O'Neil will appear in the pilot. Also, two of the main characters have previously been seen on SG-1: Dr. Elizabeth Weir was in "The Lost City" two-parter (though she will be portrayed by a different actress in Atlantis) and Dr. Rodney McKay was in "48 Hours" and "Redemption". For a full character list with descriptions, go here: www.gateworld.net/atlantis/characters.shtml. This show could do well, or it could flop. I hope it does well. It certainly has potential.

Thanks for the info Chris! And don't worry about posting in old threads, feel free to post in any thread you like, no matter how old it is! Besides this was bound to be bumped once the show aired ;D I too hope this show makes it, there isnt alot of sci fi to choose from these days in the sence of new shows. I agree Atlantis does have potential, and given the success of SG-1, I'd say this show has more then a chance of making it. I had no idea O'Neil and Jackson was going to be in the pilot, thats great to hear!

I'm just happy that Richard-Dean Anderson isn't going to be in it. He's the reason I never took SG-1 seriously. Atlantis looks to be really well done though and I can't wait to see it.

RDA will always be MacGyver
I never really got into SG-1 because the show always seemed to bounce around and when it seemed that it would finally settle down for a few weeks, bam another move.
Hopefully this one will stay permanately at a day/time, otherwise it may well be another SG-1

Oh well... I had no problems with that because I HATED that programme and didn´t watch it so to me RDA was not MacGuyver and anyway, he was much younger than - and not as sexy-looking as he is nowadays. *drool-alert coming on*

Macguyver was okay back in the day but RDA is a poor actor IMO. I don't care for his character in the show either. Just my opinion though.

True... he isn´t the greatest actor in the world but then... who is? Not Keanu Reeves *small drool there* or any of those other "film stars" I could mention. Even Bruce Willis is a terrible actor, when you get right down to it. But he had the luck that women found him drool-worthy and THAT`S why he is a big star now. Additional: And I would prefer Anderson any day to Bruce... ;D
