I figure that the show about the hurricane was ment to show up at this current point in time. I don't think they expected to show a show with a huge hurricane right in the middle of all our hurricane trouble. Do you think that this will hurt Stargate's ratings?

May cause some to reconsider, but shouldn't hurt ratings much, if at all.

I thought of that when watching it this past Friday. Personally, it dosen't bother me at all. There has been shows and movies about Hurricanes before, I don't see why they shouldn't have showed this one. I thought it was a pretty god episode too. It reminds me of the Suliban in Enterprise, which is almost an alien version of the Taliban...

Well, I missed it. And do you know why? Because of the hurricane! We got back home in time for me to see it, only there was NO POWER. We had a generator, but even if we did hook up a TV it wouldn't matter, because there was no cable, and there still isn't (though we got power back). I missed Stargate! That makes me mad! Heh, I never really made the hurricane connection

Well It doesn't bother me either, just what bothers me is that they left off where ~spoiler for Chris~. That just makes me worry about the future, but of course they'll make it out ok...

Well they said this show was the 'summer finalie' which makes me wonder if the next episode will be a new episode, since this week is the official start of the fall season?

Well they said this show was the 'summer finalie' which makes me wonder if the next episode will be a new episode, since this week is the official start of the fall season? According to my Tivo(god I love it) they are replaying the pilot episode this week Myke. I think Sci-Fi is doing what many of the netowrks are starting to consider and that is to have 3 seasons of TV now. In the Summer they debut new shows, and then for Fall, they re-run the Summer series in order for the fall lineup(and also qualify for awards shows), also while filming new eps that will air during the spring and the following summer. When Iwatched this ep this week, I actually think that they both survived because they did not ever make a gunshot noise or anything to make it assume that he had actually killed anyone. The show would not be the same without having either of the two.

And catch shows you may have missed, I only missed one and that was the one where they met those people that invaded Atlantis. But I did read the review on the episode while at school... had nothin better to do.

Oh and as far as not showing it because of the situation in Florida, I have to say this. Who cares. TV does not have to stop because of real life situations, if thats the case, then I demand that they stop showing Wizard of Oz and any movie that has a Tornado in it between April and September(which is tornado season in the midwest), quit showing any movies, shows with torrential rainstorms/flooding during the same timeframe, and they better quit showing baseball movies during baseball season, as the teams in those movies make 3/4 of MLB's real teams look pathetic.
Just like when 9/11 happened and there were outcries to remove the WTC from anything that had it seen in prior to 9/11.
So I guess I am saying oh well, TV should not ever take a seat to real life situations, because to be honest, if they did that all the time, then all we be able to watch 7 days a week is leave it to beaver and I Love Lucy, and sorry but I like something that has a little closer to my timeframe on TV

I agree, there is a huge difference between fiction and non fiction, and the two shouldn't even be considered in the same league.
I'm also pretty sure the Atlantis writers didnt write in the Hurricane due to recent events, I believe it to be pure coincidence.

And besides, its a plent full of water with a little land, there is no way they could not have hurricanes on that planet.
Jupiter and Neptune have major storms that exist on the planets, and thy are gas, so hurricanes on a water planet are inevitable
And another thing I just thought of for that episode. so now that they can't protect the station, what are the odds of it flooding itself temporarily(especially if they remodify the lightning rods to feed into the power grid instead) to avoid the hurricane? Seems to me that would make more sense then having a shield over the city.

Agreed, hurricanes are inevitable there, and I like the way they dealt with it, in a realistic manner as opposed to some bizarre fix! Thats why I like the Stargate series, they seem to be down to Earth, and maintain a good sci fi element all at once.

yeah thats what I like also. They used actual scientific fact for the episode also, because a hurricane over open water is able to gain strength(like real life), and as real life has shown lots of times, two major storms can combine and form one huge storm as well.
