I've heard nothing about a 3rd series. I know they are planning on making another Stargate movie, an SG-1 movie, but I'm unsure if it;s going to be a mini series on TV or a theatrical released movie.

I read on one of the announcements on the movies, there are going to be 2 and if sales go good they plan to create a series of movies much like star trek. They also mentioned that sg1 would be gone from tv and that atlantis and a 3rd series that is being planned would be the future of stargate on tv. =) I'm sooo curious... Edit: The movies are meant for DVD release.

The current title for the third series is Stargate: Universe, but that can change at any time.
Not much else is known about the show at the moment. One interesting piece of info though was revealed by Executive Producer Robert C. Cooper. He let it slip that the ninth chevron "plays a major factor" in the show.

I'm hoping for a more space based series.

I like Stargate, but I LOVE Battlestar Galactica. I hope whatever they do next is space based as opposed to something like Dresden Files or Eureka. I love intense science fiction as opposed to comedy science fiction.

I was hoping for a more 'space oriented' series, focusing on the other powers and economy of the milky way (eg Lucian alliance, Jaffa, an less poser goauld) after the goauld, replicators, and ori devastated it. Deals with bounty hunters, mercs, tradesmen etc.
I was thinking, Earth people would find a massive alien ship of unknown origins, and get it running. bring a stargate aboard and get some new daedalus class ship. have a sick mobile command center.

Here is the link to a search I did on the Gateworld.net website. It is called Stargate: Universe, as stated earlier in the thread, and deals with the ninth chevron. I've even heard there should be more space combat. There better be!

Now they'll have time to work on SG:U, I guess, given recent news.

I hope they don't turn the new series into a 'movie series'. It seems they have fallen in love with making movies.

All I have heard so far is that the upcoming series Stargate Universe is said to be intended to draw in a younger audience by including younger characters than the two previous series. I did also hear that there are supposed to be more ground vehicles for combat, but I can't say for sure. So much of this new series is still a mystery right now, but I think the name "Stargate Universe" has been agreed upon for sure now.
