Space.com sent me an E-Mail asking for my support on Nasa's new vision of space exploraton, via an online petition for the government to grant more funds to the space station, future missions to the moon, and eventually Mars. I'll be the first to tell you I don't believe online petitions work, but I figure 'what the hell, it can't hurt' so why not. I didn't give them my real address though, if they want to send me physical mail, I welcome it, but they have to ask my permission first. (I'm not saying that's why they ask you for your address, but onecan never be too careful) www.space.com/goformars/

After all, big brother is watching plenty. And this nifty little support thingy will probably be copied to the government - just to see who might be an (illegal) alien or subject to suspect?

Fuck the space station, and fuck the moon. Mars is where to go and so is the Hubble Space Telescope
I'm sorry, we went to the moon in 1969, found nothing, time to move on. Goto Mars now, then go to Jupiter(ala 2001) then move on past that as well.
The Hubble needs to be repaired and Nasa needs to repair it ASAP because that has answered so many questions and trhe repair parts are made for it only and if not, they just wasted $10 million of taxpayer money on it.

It's not neccesarily up to NASA to repair Hubble though...a few months ago when bush proposed his mission to go to mars bit he told NASA to abandon the Hubble and cut all funding for it.....they are appealing it and trying to keep the thing operational....but Bush doesn't want it.

I disagree with that, we have learned so much from the Hubble, seen the inside of distant galaxies, it's a poosibility that humans will NEVER make it out of our own solar system, let alone into another galaxy.
As for the moon, I think we should have some type of lunar colony, and use the moon as a launch point into space, then eventually Mars. I'm really all for going to Mars, I think once we have conqured Mars, it will be a matter of time untill we explore the rest of the solar system first hand.

There is still some question about that and pictures show things like a "flying" flag - as in: waving about in the wind. Some speculate that they took the film they made while training for the moon landing somewhere here on Earth.

We have been to the moon. I met Neil Armstrong once and he showed pictures from the moon that showed the stars in the background and all.
The reason the flag looked like it was waving was because the flag they planted was folded up and to save space and the wires had to be unbent(much like a coat hanger never goes straight again after bending it) so it appears its waving
The moon would be to expensive to launch from, there is not enough ice underneath the surface to warrant a colony. Mars on the other hand has enough Ice already to make it feasible to colonize

it only makes sence to abandon the hubble the thing is always broken somehow and always is in need of repair they should abandon it and build a more up to date new one

How old is the Hubble anyways?

it was launched in 1990 seems older than that but apparently with the constant upgrades and repairs its a model 2001 telescope -according to hubbles website

Thing is, they have never used it to its full potential either.
There are things still waiting to be attached to it still that would make it last a lot longer than it would be.
For a 14 year old piece of equipment, to be able to do the things that it still does is incredible, especially considering that a normal PC has more memory than that thing does.
Hubble shouldn't be destroyed yet, because from the special I saw on it, it was made to be easily upgraded as well.
